Picked up my G35 Sport AT today...

First off, I got a Black Obsidian with Stone interior and the options are: Premium, Nav, Splashguards, Roadblock bra. I dealt with Infiniti of Lisle, and they were very professional and courteous.

Aside from a section of Roadblock that needs to be re-done, the car is in perfect shape.

I am extremely impressed with the build quality. There is a feeling of solidity in the way the doors close, in the ***** and dials, and in the way the car rides...it feels as sturdy as a tank. The leather used for the seats is also high-quality; the Sport seats provide great support. I haven't pushed it, but there seems to be more than enough power.

One (minor) complaint at this point is that neither my salesperson nor myself could get the car to correctly understand spoken phone numbers (it would always lose a digit or get one wrong). However, it perfectly understood another guy from the service department. I suspect I will need to do some reading of the manuals and play with the car's features a bit.

Overall, I am extremely happy with the vehicle and the dealership. (This being a Nissan, I believe I will remain happy for many years because my wife and I also own a '97 Maxima with 102k miles and a '95 240SX with 170k miles, and both have been trouble-tree except for one starter).

I will post more/better photos soon. No mods are planned.

Congrats it's beautiful! Good choice on color!

When you get a chance, could you take a closeup picture of the clear bra? I'd like to see how it looks.

Enjoy it!

one more thing...

I hit 'Submit' too soon.

I am not a musician or serious audiophile by any stretch of the imagination. With that caveat, I will say that I am blown away by the Studio on Wheels. Plus, when I got the car home and my wife sat in it, she immediately said that she just couldn't believe how great the sound system is (I had not told her anything about the SoW).

During my 30 miles of driving today, I listened to the SoW for probably 45 minutes and listened to several types of music ranging from holiday songs to hard rock to hip-hop. The sound is extremely rich and crisp and the bass is outstanding. I realize other posters have complained about a lack of bass, but I thought there was plenty and could really not imagine needing or wanting more (even for club/dance/rap music).

For me, the sound quality was shockingly impressive. Plus, as the volume is turned up, there is zero distortion. So I highly recommend the SoW on its merits alone...when I further consider that its portion of the Premium Package cost is realistically under $1,000 I feel it represents a tremendous value as well.

Wow, she's a beauty, Congratulations. I see lots of snow in the background of the pics, I hope you have some winters picked out to keep that sweetheart surefooted in the cold stuff.
Enjoy your ride JMZ

Congrats on the new ride, looks nice. Does the dealer install the RoadBlock? I think I'm going to ask my dealer if they do it too.

Interesting about the lack of bass. I play bass guitar in a band, and spend a great deal of time doing the mixdown, mastering and test listening for our demos.

My 2K Maxima has the bose system, with a subwoofer installed on the deck. While the system, overall, sounds really nice, I do notice that my bass tracks are often just barely audible when playing them on that system. And that's relative to a variety of stereo systems, boomboxes, etc etc that I test the mixes on.

I think what it is - is that there's some sort of a natural low-end notch that occurs in the low-end with the subwoofer/satellite setup. Really, unless you're listening for details like I'm doing with mixdowns, I doubt you'd notice it though.

I'm sure that the SoW is orders of magnitude above and beyond the system in my Maxi, but they are both produced by Bose. So, I wonder if its a general attribute of the way they design their systems.

Thank you very much! I'm in the Chicago suburbs and we recently got 6-8 inches of snow. Luckily, I have a high mileage beater to drive to work in case of snow/ice/rain. So the G is going to mostly sit in the garage the next few months. Maybe by then I'll have learned how to use all the tech features.

I was fully expecting to do a factory order that would've taken a few months, but it turned out the exact car I wanted was already en route to CA and we had it diverted. So it came sooner than expeced....

It's gorgeous! I'm glad your whole dealer experience was positive, JMZ. That makes the whole ordering/purchasing process so much easier. I know you were concerned about the stone interior with the obsidian exterior...what do you think of the combo now that you have your car?

You spoiled Canadians need to come down here and live in the lower great lake region. It might feel more like home.

Congratz. That's a real nice colour combo and one I would seriously consider if I were buying.

Yeah, you have a lot more snow than we do too.

Sweet! I like the black, and I'm in the camp that likes the lip on the trunk. Guess you don't have to drive her when it's snowing, right, since you can take the other car.

Ditto on the Maxima, I'm still driving it daily, 98 with about 135k. No problems in sight with it, dunno, maybe a water pump somewhere down the line (crazy, 2 yrs from now?? hehe)? And another 60k service (only did the 1st one)?? It's nice to have a good older car when you get a brand-new one, so the new one doesn't have to get over-used initially.....

Congrats again!

Congrats on your new G! I have the same color on order, but AWD, and they have told me that it should be in the week before Christmas. Santa Claus is really Infiniti, I just didn't know all this time!

I am glad to see how good the black looks - very slick. Congrats again and enjoy!
