Voice recognition

Does anyone have any tips for getting better voice recognition?

When I try to voice dial a phone number, it either ends up missing a digit or being interreted a long string of mostly irrelevant numbers. I had this problem in my car at the dealership, as did the salesman. Another worker from the dealership came out and had no problem at all.

After 50+ attempts, I have not been able to get a single phone number to be dialed successfully. The two most common events are: (1) the 7th digit of a local number is omitted, and (2) I say a 7-digit number but it is received as, say, a random 10 or 12 digit number.

I have had the same problem... I have found that if you say the numbers in groups, it may pick it up. it takes longer but you can use they "back" button for incorrect group of numbers
Today it decided that it did not want to reconize "two" so i eventally got it to work after i said <pause> "two" "two" "three" <pause> for a number that was "xxx-x22-3xxx"

I noticed that I have to warm up as much as the car does in order to competently say "Temperature 65" or "Preset C4" or something to that effect. Also, it's sort of key to watch what sounds the VR system picks up as signs of words - properly pronouncing especially those sounds makes all the difference in the world.

...by the way, am I the only one that laughs, along with their passengers, at the way the navi says "avenue" and "street"?

I forget how you can get there, but there's a menu that can learn your voice. Try the settings.

I have been through the tutorial and learning program several times, and when convinced I have it down pat, occassioanlly manage to generate errors so halarous or infuriating that I wish they had a "shut up" button or better yet voice command: no matter how you say, "no, you *@$XX", that seems not to work. That said, the Nav is astoundingly good with enough datga entry alternatives to accommodate fat fingers and fast talkers.

Worse part of it that my 14 year old and the Nav lady understand each other perfectly.

One tip based on experience- when entering destination street addresses by voice, it seems to do better (at the critical end point of the house number entry) if you are moving rather than stationary. It either gets more bits from the GPS to associate the data, or I am calmer after having statrd moving in frustration of the Nav occassioanlly "stalling out" at that point when stationary.

I still cannot get the DIAL command to work...neither could my wife. No matter whether we say the numbers fast or slow, or in groups or strung together, nothing helps. I have not been able to get a single phone number to dial correctly.

However, when I use the TUNE command to tell the car to go to a particular AM or FM radio station, it works pretty much every time. Also, when I tell the car the street number for an address, it gets it right.

Our dial voice command works awesome. When we went for a drive yesterday my wife and I made a bunch of calls with it and it was flawless. My wife could not get over how easy it was.
I have had a problem with voice command for destinations on the GPS but I think it was just me giving bad commands that were not recognized. I will have to check out the Voice Command Cheat Sheet .
