Bought a new G35 today

I bought my wife a new G35 Journey today (premium, nav, tech, sport wheels) for her Christmas present. I've been using the forum for a while now for research and opinions. I researched all of the major sport sedans (BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, Acura, etc.) and think I made an excellent choice with the G35. I already own a 2006 G35 coupe and love it (with the exception of the noise level on the freeway) so I'm pretty certain the sedan is as well (if not better designed and built car.

Anyone looking for an Infinite in LA, I can recommend an excellent dealership.

We were married in March and she has been driving my 2000 Mustang GT convertable since. She is in her late 20's and has a graduate degree in engineering but has never had the experience of owning a brand new car. We went to the LA Auto Show the other weekend and I (secretly) showed her the G35 sedan they had there and she was in love with the car. She liked the BMW and the Lexus, but she liked the G35 the most.

She doesn't know yet. The problem is that we have to drive up to northern California for X-mas (5 hr drive) and I'm racking my brain on how to give her the car if we have to leave on Friday? I think I'm just going to have to give it to her a couple of days early and then we'll drive up the new G35 for the holiday.

I bought the car from South Bay Infiniti for $1850 over invoice. PM me and I'll put you in contact with the sales guy I dealt with, he was great. I've seen people on this forum get slightly better deals but LA is a hard market to get a new car in, especially when the car is as new a model as the new G35 sedan.

I went to 7 Infiniti dealerships before I finally found one that would work from invoice. Most of the dealerships in LA are charging $2000 over MSRP especially for cars that are loaded. You have a lot more bargaining power with the cars that don't have the navigation or premium package. I was offered $500 over invoice for a base "Sport" model but I really wanted the premium/nav combo.

i would tell her ( that u rented a car for the xmas ) then just let her drive it to where ur going and ask her if she wanted this car so u can buy it next year or something then just tell her the keys is on ur hand so this is ur.
Thats a good idea, but we were already planning on driving my G35 coupe up for X-mas. I wish I would have thought of that earlier.

That's next years gift. My wife's B-day is right after X-mas so I thought this might cover them both?

pics dammit!
I'll get pics today. I have the car stashed at a friends house right now, but I'm going back over there today to put some miles on it and break it in before we take it on our trip. I read somewhere that it is bad for the motor to keep it at constant RPM for extended periods of time (i.e. highway driving) while the motor has less than 500 miles on it?
