Special Orders ?

Does anybody have any experience with "Special Orders" , does this even exist?

It might sound like a small complaint to some, but I can nver quite get exactly the car I want, and I'm tired of settling. I really want the G35 S, because of the limited slip, front bumper, and seats. However, I really don't care for the Washi trim that is standard on the sport model, and the Rosewood trim isn't an option, which is what I really want. You can see where I'm going with this. I don't really care if it takes 3 months, but can dealers special order a car for you if you want and are willing to pay for it, (within reason)

Ideally, I would like the 6 speed with Rosewood trim, but that's an entirely different console and they aren't going to mold new trim just for 1 car. However, the automatic console is standard, and can just be swapped with the Journey.

* Didn't mean to offend anybody who has the Washi, just not my preference.

I hate to tell you, but it's not gonna happen. Anything outside of what is available from Infiniti's production line is not going to happen. If they do it for one person, then they are opening the doors to others and it would be cost-ineffectice for Infiniti, not to mention the headaches involved with altering their assembly line. Just my .02 cents.

you won't be able to order the wood with the S, however, if you have a good dealer, I've heard of two other people that were able to convince their dealer to swap out the wood trim on an X or Journey with your Aluminum. I'm thinking of giving it a try when my car comes in. You can also talk to the dealer about ordering replacement wood pieces, cost might be high, but he should cut it to you at strait cost.

A good dealer will be willing to do what ever it takes to make you happy, if the buying price is too expensive even at cost, push for swap out, or see if any wood pieces are replacable under warranty and don't require a return part, maybe the smaller pieces he can get away with warranty replacements... When my order comes in, I'm going to try for this and leverage that others have received this from their dealers.

Otherwise there will be aftermarket wood that you can get, I've seen one set already, really nice but way over priced, something like $2100.

Thanks for the info guys, sounds like it will be easier to just live with the Washi. Do you think they might change things for the 08, and give people both options ?

I've had a hard enough time getting a fully loaded G35x with the packages they *do* offer - I cant imagine how tough it might be getting a special order.
