Paint blemish - bird droppings or orange peel?

Hi everyone,

Last week I washed and waxed (NXT) my G35S. I drove it to work a few times this past week and it somehow ended up with lots of bird droppings on it by today.

So I washed the car today and just noticed two dime-sized spots on the car that look like acid etched into the surface. It looks similar to a fine-grain orange peel texture but a bit more crater-ish if that makes sense. The paint is shiny in these two locations, and feels pretty (but not perfectly) smooth.

Is it possible to easily remove these imperfections? Could the bird poop have etched into the paint in only a couple of days, especially since the car was waxed last weekend? ...or could it be paint imperfections from the factory? ...I suspect these things stand out more on a black car like mine is.

I've only had the car for ~4 weeks. At this rate, I'll need a new paint job in a year

Hey JMZ! Yea those Markings from the bird droppings are probably etched into your Paint!! Which is not Good! Bird Droppings have like acid in them, if you don't wash it off ASAP, or let it sit in the sun for a couple of days without cleaning it off, Will Stain your PAINT! Especially with a Black car!! The only way you may be able to get it out is with a good Buffing! or getting it wet sanded and buffed out by a good Detailer!! Now you know, to wash that stuff off ASAP!! I know, I have a Black 03 Accord, and never park near trees or water sprinklers! if you park near them you are looking for trouble! Good Luck!

Vigorous, repeated waxing

seemed to take care of one spot completely and the majority of the other spot. The remaining spot is only really possible to see in direct light, from certain angles, and if your eyes are < 2 ft. from the car.

I'd heard black cars are high maintenance but I never imagined it would be to this extent. I've had white, silver, and gray cars in the past that got washed every few months (and waxed like once per year) and I never saw bird poop etching into the paint (even if the poop dried and the car sat outdoors for days in 90 degF heat. Oh well...I guess it's the price to pay for black.
