How reliable are ETA dates?

How reliable are ETA dates?
So the ETA on my car is a week away, but the dealer left me a msg making it sound like it could arrive anyday. Do they come early?

I believe some people have gotten theirs a few days early, so it's possible. Just don't ask any of our early adopters to the north (ahem Shane, Christian, et al).
