Sorry for going off topic, but what does "WOT" mean? I have heard it a few times and struggle with it's meaning.

Thank you.

I have a question, why is it obvious that your going to use mobil 1? These car's don't come with synthetic from the factory and you may actually do more harm then good by switching to syn. so early. Dino oil has additives that help swell seals and prevent leaks which is super important while a car is fairly new. If the car comes with syn. from the factory then its a different story because the seals, gaskets, etc... are all designed to work with syn. I have been in the automotive repair field for over 13 years now and have never seen a benefit to using synthetic. The only benefit most users will see is longer interval, but with most modern cars dino oil is good for 5k miles so how much longer are you going to go for roughly double the cost? IMO synthetic is just marketing from the oil companies to have higher profit's, the benefits do not out way the cost and there are some draw backs.... I just can't see someone who cares about their car going 10k+ on oil, I think that is a bit on the risky side.

yeah i have redlined her about 6 or 7 times using the manumatic and she just hit 1000

Get 1st oil change at 1000-1200 miles regardless of future intervals..

Do yourself a favor and get the first oil change done as close to 1000 miles as possible. Your engine has been breaking in and most likely has a high level of metal particles floating in the oil as part of the process. My car now has 500 miles and although I have not babied it, I will be careful not to redline it until I have had the oil changed for the first time. The metal particles in the oil/filter resulting from the initial break-in can cause damage due to reduced oil flow and increased friction. I believe the first oil change is the most important and have read how others change their oil after the first 100 miles of driving while breaking in a new car.

With my last car (Mazda6 V6), I did one at 1000, 2000, then 5000 miles. Now, with the G35, I'd rather just stick to the manufacturer's recommendation of 3000-3750 miles.

That's how I hit a high RPM the first time, I'm used to driving a manual and I had it in the manual mode went to shift from 3rd to 4th and went to 2nd - ooops! That was with around 400 miles on it, thankfully I was just playing with the manual shift mode and not really driving the car hard... then I realized I probably won't have this longer then 4 years and I mind as well just enjoy it while I have it.

I haven't even touched the manu-matic on our X yet. I didn't want to do exactly what you did - I know I would've gotten too distracted by the awesome driving experience and forgotten to shift on time!

The manual says nothing about changing oil early during the 1200-mile break-in period to get rid of metal particles, so I think I'm just going to stick with what they say. Isn't that what the oil's job is ?... to protect the engine from friction? I would think you've got more than enough oil in the system to keep from any sort of build-up or clogging.
