Quick Question

The ICC uses the laser sensor in the front bumper to maintain a preset following distance when you are using the cruise control instead of just setting your desired speed. It has three preset distances to choose from, and if you start to approach a car in front of you it will reduce your speed to maintain the cushion between you and the other car. It's a pretty cool feature, it eliminates the need to be constantly adjust your speed when you don't have the whole road to yourself. Personally I ususally find that the farthest distance is too much and it gets kind of annoying when it never really lets you up to your desired speed. I usually use the second distance setting.
As an added bonus, even when the ICC is not active it give the preview braking feature as well, which will sense emergency breaking situations based on the speed at which you are approaching an obstacle and precharge the brakes for optimum power as soon as you apply the brakes.

I don't have it, but I remember reading a review on it. The author was driving behind a car that slowed down. His G35 slowed down, too, but when the car in front suddenly changed lanes, the G launched itself like a **** and went full throttle to resume the original cruise control speed. Personally, I think the fast acceleration would be a thrill.

Strange .. I've been playing around with it and it did not "launch" when traffic sped up. As a matter or fact, it took a while to get back up to my preset speed (90MPH).
For the most part, it works pretty good covering the full range of speed from 90 to 30 and back up.
On the flip side, I wanted to see what would happen when I had the distance to 2 and the minimum speed of 30. It actually worked, but I got closer to the car in front of me than if i were to apply the brakes normally. I think the warning chime should come on sooner. I'll have to do a little reading to make sure I am using it properly.
So how does this work in the 6MT when traffic slows down to where you need to shift?
