Adjusting gas pedal sensitivity

Hello,
I just picked up my new 07 G35 sport a week ago. Love the car. Only thing is the gas pedal seems to have some play. During the 1st inch of gas pedal travel, the engine revs slightly, then when I have the gas pedal depressed pass the 1 inch mark, it suddenly revs much faster than how I would expect based on the amount of pedal I am giving it.

Has anyone experienced the same? Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity or play of the gas pedal?

Andy

Welcome Andy. That sounds like a new issue and maybe only with the 07's. Check it with you dealer.

Also keep in mind it is drive-by-wire, so the car's ECU is really learning how you drive. Try giving it a little time to get to know you!

I also experience the same thing.. although I haven't monitored my RPMs on starts, but there is definitely some play in the pedal before it translates to a surge in forward movement, resulting in a kind of lurching start. I figured this is not an issue with the car, but just a characteristic of the car that I've gotten used to. I can make smooth starts now but still there is some delay (i.e., I can't trail the car in front of me as close as I used to from stops).

That was the first thing I noticed when I got behind the wheel of the new G for the very first time. I was like, "geez, this thing is sensitive." But then I really liked how responsive it was to the slightest of touch.

My Max was a bit like this (also drive-by-wire), and the G is just more so. It's seriously binary, but you get used to it; I either roll on slowly, or just punch it past the step

Yes, I noticed also that there's a point, as you first step down on the accelerator, where the accelerator is a little harder than other cars to push down, and if you're not too gentle in pushing it down, the car accelerates a lot. There were a few times at first when I accelerated more than desired coming off a stop light. I'm getting used to it, and learning to give it that "gentle" touch to give my passengers a little more comfort...

I orginally had "surge" issues at first, but not anymore. I've got about 1600 miles on mine now ... maybe I just got used to it. My wife never noticed the surging but then, she only recently started driving it .
