Fuel cap fix?

The plastic thread that attaches the fuel cap to the car broke off the other day. I don't think there is any damage to it. It just came off, but I can't see anywhere that I can reattach it to. Anyone have any ideas?

mine came without the tether attached. I wonder if that bolt that attaches it to the door is just a cheap *** plastic piece. I intend to have them fix it when I get my car back to the dealer for service.

I brought this up before, and others have complained about the same cheap quality of the plastic bold. I can easily just tie it up with a tiny black zippy tie. Honestly, I just want the entire strap removed. I find that it gets in the way when I try to rest the cap on the cap holder on the door. Sometimes, I drop the cap. Because it's attached to the strap, it becomes a pendulum and smacks right into the car's paint.

That's what I am doing...I think my dealer has ordered the part for me now, but I'll just get it installed in my next service, 3 months from now.

Yes cheap piece of plastic. So I replaced mine with a nice piece of chain.
Never will break again!

I broke that thing on the first fill up. It was repaired at the dealership the following week under warranty.

Mine came off last week, looked like it pulled off more than snapped off. Anyway, I got pissed for a few seconds then realized I liked it better off anyway.

i got my tether repaired. they put one of those plastic bolts on it.
I managed to pull the bolt out of the hole first fill up completely by accident though. That thing is almost useless. it'd be alot more secure if it was a bolt/nut combination.. i might go to down to home depot and find a plastic bolt/nut and replace it when i get a chance.

mine was missing when i got the car. i didnt hold it against the salesman (he did a great job). he told me hed have it fixed when i go back for the wheel locks. i took it upon myself and put a zip tie when i got home. the strap was sticking out of the gas door. it looked bad.
