Thumbs down non-matcing tire on my new G35 Sport

I took delivery of my new 2007 G35 Sport Sedan 2 days ago and today I found that one of the tires did not match. 3 of the tires were Bridgestone Potenza RE050A. On the rear right wheel I found that I had a Potenza RE040, a different tire with a different tread. I discovered it because my low tire pressure monitor warning light came on and stayed on. I checked all the tires and they were overinflated! I let out some air to get them all to 33 as specified by the tag by the driver's door and that's when I discovered the oddball tire. The dealer didn't have the right tire in stock so I convinced them to take a wheel/tire off another sport model sitting on their new car lot and swap it with mine. They also had to reinitialize and reset the low tire pressure monitor system on all 4 tires to getting working properly again. If it wasn't for the malfunctioning pressure monitor, I may not have discovered the non-matching tire for a long time. The dealer's service dept took great care of me to fix this problem, but Infiniti's factory in Japan shouldn't have let a car off the line like that in the first place. I had a 2006 G35 sedan for a loaner while they were swapping my tire, and I can truly say that my 2007 is a great improvement over that 2006.

I agree that they shouldn't have shipped the car with 2 different tires. Glad to hear that the service dept help you out. They say that you should always buy new tires in at least sets of 2, but not sure how the car would be affected with 1 different tire. How did it drive? I guess you didn't notice a difference?

Could be a factory thing, but I'll bet this was a change made in port - the wheel or tire probably got damaged, and they swapped in this one.

I didn't notice anything wrong driving it, but I hadn't driven the car prior to purchase. My test drives were on other cars. If it wasn't for the low tire pressure monitor failing, I wouldn't have noticed the different tire for a while. So it was good thing that the pressure monitor failed.
