My Test Drive Experience

I really wasn't planning on doing anything today so picked up the phone and called a couple of dealerships in the Bay Area, CA to see if I could test drive a 6MT.
Peninsula Infiniti was my first choice (got my wife's FX35 there) but the guy said they didn't have a MT tester. Was nice about it though but they missed out!
Tim over at Pleasanton Infiniti had one and invited me over. It was great b/c he was not aggressive about selling, took my license and said "let's go". Must've had fanboy written all over my face tho
Test drive was a 5 minute drive through street traffic then a quick jump on the freeway to open her up. Guess my biggest concern was the clutch feel. Stalled first time, caught it the next time and then it was no big deal. Pretty easy to catch on and Tim was great at walking me through it. I did notice a clunky sound a couple of times when I switched to 2nd but figure it was bad timing on my part.
He gave me a chance to put in a baby seat, fool around with the seating, trunk, kick the wheels and all that. Really enjoyed the experience.
I did notice that with the baby seat and seats adjusted to my height/feel that the leg/shoulder room in the backseat was about the same as in our FX35. Was odd that they were so similar but guess that's b/c their on the same platform?
I was totally not thinking about doing something today. Figured I'd wait a few months but was pretty much in love at that point
Tim said they had 3 MTs they had were loaded with the Prem/Nav/Tech packages which is what I wanted. GULP! Was I really gonna do this today???! Fortunately for me, they didn't have the LP available (BO, BS, PG for those that want to know what they had in stock). They also didn't come equipped with a spoiler which was another of my requirements. He suggested doing a special order, which I'd put down a refundable deposit but with no requirement to buy when it came in. It would take about 2 months, so that was great for me...my annual performance bonus at work is about 4 weeks away
Sooooo....

I ended up doing it!!! 07 Sport 6MT w/prem, nav, tech, Liquid Plat/Stone, spoiler, cargo net (seemed totally useless when I looked at it but what the heck). AAAAAAHHHHCCKKKKKK....still can't believe I'm getting one ordered. Financially I'm mortified but I've got this voice in my head saying "muwhahahahahahahaha....sooon, soon you will be mine!!!".

Guess the negotiations when it finally comes in will ultimately decide things. I'm not gonna think about things until we get to that bridge though and just keep looking at everyone's pics to keep me sane.

If anyone's got pics of a Sport Liquid Platinum you want to share (glutton for punishment) please do so. Be great to see if anyone's upgraded on the rims to see how it would look. Personally thinking about RO_JA R2-7 (Black) but just not sure how that would look with Liquid Platinum.

Thanks for listening to my rambling...someone save me from myself! I blame all of you on this forum for being so damn informative and posting so many pics

Glad Pleasanton Infiniti took care of you, i'm family friends with the GM of hendrick automall, he's normally over in the Lexus building though. I trust they'll take care of you and get you a great price.

Here are some pics of my Liquid Platinum, aka Silver. Mine is a Sport with Premium Package...sorry, no spoiler and the 18" rims are stock.
I love the color! I call my car the Silver Surfer.
Enjoy the ride.

Thanks!
I'm planning to get them both out and do some photos...
The M45 is the wife's and I just turned in my FX45 for the G - and don't regret it at all. The G is great ride.
Now if I only had some 3 foot snow banks to power through... LOL.

Pleasanton Infinity's been great! I just picked one up from them last Wed. The one i wanted was in the storage lot so they prepped it, and I got there after work at night. Really couldn't give it a good once over so the manager says to bring it back on Sat and we'll write up anything i'm not happy with. I'm having them rebuff the hood, trunk and a bunch of other misc clean up all because it's black and i'm being very ****. He had no problems, even though I had it for 3 days.

Anyways, just wanted to say they've been great to work with, no pressure and willing to deal, although I had 4 dealers all willing to sell at $500 over. As others said, the bay area seems to be selling at this price if you're willing to stay firm.

Haven't had a chance to take any pics yet but will soon.

Herschel: saw your car in another post and said that's the color I want. Great nickname!
G-Whizzer: So damn jealous! Infiniti makes great cars and I wouldn't mind driving an M every so often.
bertmauricio: Look forward to seeing the pics. Looking forward to working with them...when you say $500 over, is that over invoice??? That sounds great! For a sport too! Great deal and congrats.
