Any '07 (or even earlier models if they're there) owners leaving those covers off? I found it inconvenient to have to flip up the cover everytime just to visually check the fluids & wonders exactly what physical/mechanical functions do they serve. I'm seriously thinking about leaving them off.

I've also already seen one of those locking fasteners (two each on the front side of each cover) broken off on one of the dealer showroom vehicle & wonder how long will they hold up in that hot engine compartment.
