First 300 miles - quick report

I just filled up and averaged 18.88 MPG. This is pure city driving, lots of stop and go. I have been easy on the loud pedal except for a couple of times.

The car continues to be awesome.. The feel is solid, the ride is taut without beating on you. The steering tracks straight and true with a good on center feel. Love the sounds.. not too loud but still plenty sporty.

So far I'm still impressed with the whole package.

Good stuff. Almost 19 Mpg is pretty darn good considering you are doing all city driving on a new engine!

Good news! Thanks for the update. It's really interesting to hear what owners think of this car after a few months of ownership.

Damn you guys are getting good miles. Got 700 on mine and with stop and go I'm only getting around 17 per gallon. Can't wait to finish breaking it in. Im gonna take it easy though won't kill it until maybe at 3000 miles.

All I can say is this car is LEGEN......wait for it......DARY!! I've had the car for about a month now and it's such a joy to drive. Having come from driving two SUV's ('95 Landcruiser, '00 RX300) I would've been content in driving any other non-SUV car. Almost 19mpg in the first 300 miles is damn good. I just passed the 1200 mile break in point and finally averaging 20+ mpg. I suggest you put on a pair of Depends when you push it to redline in WOT. Ahh...it's so exhilarating.

I can only imagine the day and night difference between the G and the SUVs...

What made you do such a drastic change?

I drove the '95 Landcruiser in high school for about two years. After graduating I went to Boston University for 4 years and barely drove the car. I only drove the car when I visited for winter break. I ended up selling it because I had no need for the car in LA or Boston. Since I moved back to LA, I drove the RX300, which was my mother's car. She had just gotten an S55 so she didn't need it. I drove the RX for about 1.5 years until I finally decided that I was OVER driving these things. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Landcruiser while I had it. I had a banging $5K system installed and drove the **** out of it offroad. If only the redesigned G had come out sooner, I'd have gotten it years ago. Not that many cars appealed to me back then and the ones that did were out of my price range. Luckily now the range of cars I can now afford is much bigger, but the G was just so damn LEGEN...DARY!

I agree. When I drove the '07 loaner they gave me, it felt quite solid/rigid yet had a smooth ride. The car just felt well connected- even moreso than my coupe.
