My intelligent key experience

I've gotten very used to using my intelligent key with my car. I don't pull it out for anything. Locking/unlocking doors or opening the trunk. It just stays in my pocket.

Today I had put my key into my work bag. (It's easier to go through security checkpoints with all my keys, coins, etc... in my work bag vs. my pockets)

In any case, I get back to my car and I opened my trunk as usual, tossed my bag in and tried to close the trunk. The lock didn't engage and my car beeped at me.

The key knows when it is in the car vs. just outside the car and wouldn't let me lock myself out.

Pretty cool.

Anyone else discover any other quirks?

Not a quirk...I believe it's documented in the manual if I remember correctly. Still a cool feature nonetheless.

Very cool.
That and that little glow handle for getting out when you lock yourself in the trunk!!
The car does beep at me alot... but not as obnoxiously as the FX.
More of a "the captain has turned off the seat belt sign" kinda chime.

are you sure about that...I havent tried, but I figure that once the car is on, it'll run w/o the key. which is why when I warm up my car in the morning, I normally lock the doors when I go back inside the house.

That's the only missing feature that would make keyless entry/ignition on the G35 complete. Remote startup.

Start car from remote, push button to unlock doors, get in and drive off.

Also great way to cool down the car ahead of time in the summer.

I love my intellikey, i dont know how i ever went without it now. When ever i go to get into someone elses car i often forget that i have to use the key or a remote and i'll just pull on the door handle...lol.

It's always nice knowing that the car wont let you lock it with the key inside.

Once the car is started you can drive off without the key. Just don't turn it off though.

Does it auto lock when you leave the car.

Are we sure about this. When I start my car with the keys inside of course. And then get out and take the keys with me, it beeps. It doesnt shut off though, I am guessing that if I went back to the car without the keys and put it in gear, it SHOULD shutoff. I am going to try it... be right back!

Wow... I guess you can drive it without the keys. I was really excited about thinking I could leave it running without the keys in it and it not being able to be stolen, I guess I was wrong. It just shows a warning on the odomer "NO KEY".

That was also the first time its been started since Monday, damn snow storm!

We got the dealer to install a remote starter. It works fine.

Leave the car running, but lock it with the remote from the outside.

Go do what you need to do and when you come back, just open the door normally, this should work.
