Smile 07G35S winter tires question...

Well, now that VPP is available, I am officially in the market for a new car to replace my 03 G35C 6MT.

Hopefully now that the 07G35 have been around for a few months someone can shed some light on my question.

Currently I am running 225/50 17 fronts & 235/50 17 rears as a Winter tire set up to replace the standard 18” summer tire. If I do decide to trade up to an 07G35S (I am on the fence between the G & a 335i, but that’s another story), does anyone have any idea if for starters, 17” tires will fit on the new 07G35s sedan? Ideally I would like to keep my current winter tires and use them on the 07G sedan

Thanks much for you help….

Yes 17's fit, I plan on running 225/55/17's all around on mine, keeping it all the same size.

^^^+1, shouldn't be a problem, the base G runs 225/55R17 tires all around.
I am running 225/55R17 Blizzaks on my car.

Will the 17" wheels have enough clearance for the 13" brakes (the Journey and X have 12.6" front and 12.1" rear rotors).

I believe most 17s will clear. Shane is running 17" steelies with snows on his 07 Sport right now.

I bought a set of used 03/04 sport 17's and they clear the brakes.

WTF I can't find steelies anywhere, I was thinking of just getting some cheap steelies for the winter but nobody had them.

I am also thinking getting G35s with winter tires.
I looked at Tirerack and thier website said 4 extra TMPS are required.
Are you guys running your winter tires with or without TMPS?
Is it OK to put same size of tires for all four wheels? since the factory
put wider tire in the back?

Thanks

You can run the wheels without the TMPS sensors. It just means you'll have a blinking/solid light in your dash for the winter. It doesn't hurt the car in any way.

I'm running Michelin Pilot Alpins in 225/55-17 all around on my S. It's never going to handle exactly to spec, but it beats parking the car. The RE050's are useless in the cold.

cool.....that way I would not have to spend $$ on a new winter tire set up. That's one more point for the G....

Thanks

I may be purchasing a G35S in the near future and I have 16" winter rims with winter tires that I currently use on my TL. Do you think those would clear the S brakes?

I have the same tires on my Mazda. I've liked having them, but since they're my first winter tires I don't have much to compare them to. CostCo frequently runs a $60 rebate on four.
