Which Oil at Dealer?

I purchased my G from a dealer that has a Dealer Avantage program that includes all scheduled maintanence for 4 years. Does anyone know what oil that the dealer will use for these types of programs and whether I should be requesting something else?

I took a look and wasn't able to find the answer on G35 Driver. Thanks in advance.

Probably some sort of dino oil, or at best a synthetic blend. Give them a call and ask them when type of oil they use for regular oil changes. I doubt it'll be synthetic.

Synth oils are proven to have greater shear strength and suspend dirt better than dino oils. They can also go longer between drains and keep the engine cleaner.

thanks for the info. i might pick up a few cases of mobil one next time i go to costco and have them use that (so i don't have to pay anything additional at the dealer).

this is the first car that anticiate keeping longer than the warranty period so i a going to take great care of it.

Depending on how many miles you have on your G, I'd wait to go full synthetic until the engine wears in properly.

Not necessary.. Look at all the cars that come from the factory with synth oil.. Corvettes, porsches, etc.. These engines break in fine on synth oil
Take a look at the Mobil site. Synth oil can be used from the get-go with any car.
Some cars have a special break in oil that must remain in use for so many miles. Honda adds Molly to their factory fill and requires at least 3500 miles before a change.
I will change the oil in the G35 at 3K miles or so. Just in case there is a special additive installed at the factory.
Then its on to Mobil 1 synthetic.

My dealer uses Mobil 1. Not sure if that's across the board or not.

That's true. But, if I remember when I had my maxima, they told me not to change it until a certain milage because of an additive from the factory. It's possible the G has the same additive.

My dealer has Castrol Syntec and they charge about $80 compared to $50 for oil change with dino oil.

Nobody got back to me on another thread. When I dropped my car off for my complimentary 3750-mile maintenance, I asked the service manager how much they charge for a regular oil change. He told me they're all FREE. He said Infiniti's trying to imitate BMW's courtesy maintenance plan. I asked if I need to pay for maintenance to get the oil change, and he said, "Just call me and drop your car off whenever you need an oil change. We'll do it for you free of charge."

WTF?

When I got my oil changed they told me there was a tiny unicorn poking holes in my exhaust and it was going to be $7000 to take it out Nothing is free from my dealership.
