Quote: just done some research and was suprised at the top speed (07 G35s auto)...I thought for sure it would be limited to around 155...didnt figure it would be lower than the last generation?...Im not a tech guy but is there an easy way to defeat this....I dont plan on going all out but would like to be able if need be....thanks
Where did you see if was NOT limited at 158? All the magazines have been reporting that the top speed is limited at 158...

Good lord, if you wanted to kill yourself 155mph would do just fine. Anymore than that won't make you more or less dead.

that's because the magazines test the 6sp models...for some reason all AT models regardless of S or non-S are limtied to 135. APPARENTLY, 6spds are limited to 155 or 158./

Quote: what is the top speed in the bmw 3 series, what about a4?
I can tell you that my bro's 335i is limited at 153, tested several times. Back when I had my Max the SE's were not limited and the GXE's were due to the tires. Same with my bro's '01 330i. Manufacturers will usually do that based on the tires included. The X's don't come with great V-rated tires so that makes sense.

Quote: And if some type of farm animal (or any other animal) decides to cross the road while you're doing 150 mph, what are you going to do then? IMO, there is NO safe place to drive those types of speeds except on the track.
I agree for the most part, but there must be a reason the Autobahn has no speed limit in many areas. My bro and I were able to hit his 153mph limiter 15 times and felt safe doing so. Here in NY there not enough open, uncongested roads, so doing it here make no sense.

Quote: Overall, I honestly think that NA drivers are completely inattentive and inferior drivers when compared to our Euro friends.
Sad to say I have to agree there, the dirvers in Europe are much better, more mindful of their surroundings, safer and more capable overall.

Quote: Don't worry, all German cars are limited to 160mph, it's a gentleman's agreement they have.
Quote: Really? Euro Porsches limitied to 160?
I dunno about that. When my bro and I raced a brand new Turbo out there, we hit 153 he was still going strong at a much faster rate. We both estimated him to be going at least 165-170.

"" Experts estimate that in the next few years, the EU will impose a standard speed limit on all European highways, including the autobahn.

An 80 m.p.h. limit on the autobahn between Berlin and Hamburg reduced annual traffic-related deaths from eight to zero last year, reports Rainer Hillgaertner of the Automobilclub Europa, one of Germany's biggest organizations for drivers. ""

335i without sports package is limited to 135mhp, 335i with sports package is 160mph. AFAIK all Audi, BMW, and Mercedes are limited to 160mph max due to an agreement between the three manufactures. Sort of like Japans old "nothing over 300hp" thing.

We hit that limiter at 153 maybe 154 about 15 times. Are the speedos that far off?
