These are the good old days .....

Break in is over. I took another day trip, 360 miles round trip. I stayed off the Interstates and took the back roads. Many are two lane roads with hills and curves. I passed everything in sight, pedal to the metal, lots of high rpm passing maneuvers. I had a blast. Averaged 23.4 mpg using the fill the tank method when I returned and the fuel computer agrees. This included being stuck in Friday traffic on the way home.

The G35 is a sophisticated Hot Rod. Best way I can describe it. I never owned a car in this category. I usually go for the pure raw sports type cars. The ones that are designed for performance over comfort and convenience.
My priorities have changed with age and this car provides many sporting attributes with the comfort and sophistication of a luxury car.

On the way home I was getting on the Hwy and opened it up on the acceleration ramp. I merged into traffic doing about 80+ only to look in the rearview mirror and see a crown vic with the light bar. I downshifted using the paddles to slow down and then waited for the lights to come on. As I sat there looking innocent, 3 NC state troopers and a fire marshal passed me on the left. Lucky for me they must have been en route to something more important than giving me a ticket. Whew..

Forgot to mention... I don't notice any vibrations at or near redline acceleration. No vibes coming up thru the tunnel either.
I do have the "blow-off" sound between shifts in the lower gears.. sounds normal to me.
No other unusual sounds or issues.

On another note... I was wearing one of my many watches that I collect. This particular one is a quartz movement that makes an audible click as the second hand sweeps by.
I was sitting in traffic wondering what that clicking noise was.. To my surprise, it was my wrist-watch! Cozy and quiet inside the G

Good write up!
I'll find myself reaching 80+ and not even realize it - I guess I keep waiting for the acceleration feeling to end and... it doesn't.

We've all been there too - thinking that somehow if we look innocent, they'll forget we were speeding. Pretty funny.

But I think you nailed it. It's such a refined ride... and I think at least or even more quiet than our M.

Nice write up!

Glad to hear you are happy with the choice you made. I'm starting to hear and see more and more owners coming from other cars and brands that are new to the Infiniti name and who have nothing but good things to say about this car.

Great write-up, I especially liked the comment about hearing your wrist watch.

Great write up. I am nearing 7000 miles and it just gets better. This afternoon on a back road with a mix of sweepers and tight turns the paddles got a workout. They are solid as a rock when the car is under pressure. No lag up or down, none of the random over rev without power that my 03 occassionally had. Control like a stick driven well, with excellent road feel and a good bit of drift with the limited slip. I have a 911SC that has seen most tracks in the East- and the G is as much fun- at least at 8/10ths.

Thanks... The watch is not real noisy.. but has a distinctive clink to it as the second hand sweeps. You can hear it in a quiet room when its about 16 inches away from your ear. I was about to hear it in the car creeping along in traffic..
