I think the non-apple AV cables are differnet from the acutal Apple one, I recall reading somewhere that apple reveresed the tip connections, so that audio acutally comes out of the yellow video rca, and video comes out of the other audio rca (when using a non-apple AV cable) Try unplugging all of the rca cables, and plugging in each one into each of the audio channels. i think the yellow should give you audio. that should eliminate the hissing. if not try an "ipod specific AV cable". good luck

Yeah- make sure your hooking your AUDIO RCAs into the Red and White RCA inputs, as mentioned earlier, the Yellow is the Video feed input.

The screen does surprisingly well when you send the video to it, of course in park with the E-brake on...

I tried my iPod in my G for the first time today, with so many other options I haven't even thought about it and I've had the car since November 24. I used the Monster Cable RCA to stereo mini connector (iPod branded) and I heard no hiss at all, but I still think it will sound better when I order the pocket dock.

I had my MP3 player setup in my old coupe, so, I actually had my MP3 player with me when I bought the new 07 and hooked it up immediatly. Conversely to you, I have only had 1 CD in just to try the ripping. I have also used the XM very little... I am not impressed with their lineup of modern rock music. Ethel, Squizz, 20 on 20, XMU, The Verge... not impressed. Lucy plays some good old alternative stuff, but I already have the old Bush, and STP albums, haha.

for the hissing the ground loop isolator works like a charm. I picked up one from radio shack:

There's a shack a block away from my house so the convenience made up for the extra cost of it compared to online

Do you really carry that huge thing around in your center console in addition to an RCA to stereo mini cable?

It's not THAT big. And it includes an RCA to 1/8" minijack adapter.
I should take a picture of my center console. I have the belkin auto charger with line out, the groundloop isolator, a 12v y-splitter so i can also have my cell phone charger in there.

It's quite packed, but I don't need it the space for anything else so it works quite well.
