An annyoing problem with voice recognition

Happy weekend everyone.

I have this annoyance with the voice recognition. For the most part of it, it works flawlessly. Any of the usual commands like "temperature", "phone dial", "destination", etc. - all work fine. However, I'm having problems with digits - the number 5 to be exact. If I try to enter a phone number with the last number being 5, it won't take it. It doesn't substitute it for any other digit, it simply ignores it

If I try to speak a phone number with a "5" in middle of it, it works. But if "5" is the last digit, it simply ignores it (or doesn't register it).

I went through the voice training section and covered all the given commands, but I didn't see any training part that covers digits...

I tried searching the voice recognition threads but couldn't find anything. Is anyone else having problems with specific digits?

Yes numbers just don't work. especially when trying to do more then single digits, i.e. 42, always comes up as 47 for me. I wish they would build in a training for digits. the # 2 is the most difficult for the system to undersand from me.

Try doing the voice training that's described in the manual? That made mine a lot better, although still not perfect.

if the number ends in 5 just tack on another number... the phone system will ignore it. so if you need to dial 334-2345 say 334-23456.

...but it should work as is.

I've got a nav unit and mine seems to work for me most of the time. Sometimes with the digits it takes me a couple tries but I usually get it by the second. When my girlfriend is in the car and she tries the commands it almost never works. Funny.

Mine clips the end of the phone number off if I say xxx-xxxx. but if I include the area code xxx-xxx-xxxx, it works.

My voice recog loves me, doesn't like me wife however

Another problem I found is the Last City command. Once I use it, it stops responding to the address I give it.

That's correct!

Looks like it doesn't like code-less numbers... If I speak the number again including the area code (even though it's a local number), it takes it.

Oh well... as long as it works.

You're welcome

I had this exact same question/niggle when I was experimenting with the voice recog functions.

chrisbel was the member that mentioned that the fix was to try with the area code, tada

Wierd, but like you said, whatever <shrug>
