Floor Mats wearing quickly

I've had my G35 for about 6 weeks and I am noticing a lot of wear on the driver's floor mat. Especially where my heel rests by the gas pedal. I wear tennis shoes every day not hard soled shoes. The mats in my previous cars would last at least a year before noticable wear.

Are these mats that cheap? Has anyone complained to Infiniti?

thanks,
Bruce in L.A>

I agree with you on the mat quality. Infiniti really cheaped out on these floor mats. They appear to be a much lower quality than previous years. I am still using my winter mats, but that is a concern when I put the carpeted mats back in.

I bought a set at Pepboys just to use for winter time, being their 'best' set at $28. Turns out they are much more plush than the stock set so I plan on just keeping those in all the time. One of my passengers even mentioned how soft the Infiniti floor mats are. haha, uh ya.

When I saw how thin the stock mats were, I laughed and pulled them out right away.

"So this is where they are saving money" I thought to myself.

I'm running a full set of Michelin extreme car mats, they're a rich black color, even when you wash them. Can't really notice it at all

I never use the OEM mats (no matter how good they are, because quite frankly... they are never good enough). I Always swap them for durable A/S mats.

What brand of durable A/S carpeted mats do you suggest Speeed? Where do you get them?

I see that weathertech has some interesting carpeted mats that will hold 1.5 quarts of liquid in their concealed rubber layer. They aren't available for the 07 but I filled out their product request form on their website.

Im picking up my All Weather mats today from Infiniti. I opted to get the Graphite ones after seeing them on a vehicle they had in the lot. They are really nice and got the Infiniti logo on it. I had previously bought some regular black universal mats but in comparison to the all weather ones they look like garbage.

I just use plain rubber Infiniti OEM A/S mats. They are durable and have a perfect fit. Your dealer's part department should have them. They run around $99 U.S. for the whole set - well worth it if you ask me.

Yup, they are pretty crappy. I'm gonna use them then toss them for nicer ones later. There is no reason to try and save them.

Yeah, the floor mats are definitely much thinner than what was in my 03. I'll just buy new OEM mats when these are worn out. I personally don't think rubber mats look good (other than in winter) and spoil the look of a classy interior. That's just me though.

I agree with you on the looks of the mats Shane. On our last G35 I wanted to leave the OEM winter mats in the car year round and Karen freaked and said she didn't want ugly rubber mats all year round, so we used the carpeted mats as soon as the nicer weather arrived. So I will be doing the same as you with the 07 (or I will be told ).

Good choice on the graphite A/S mats. I agree they look better in the Stone interiors.
