Newb Question here

Hey everybody, newb here to the G35 and having a few questions regarding the vehicle. I'm just merely doing preliminary research for my father regarding the car.

An issue I've seen come up in all the reviews I've read was the vibration issue that comes up past 6500RPM on the Sport 6MT models.

My dad has showed some interest in the manual model but I'm wondering if any real owners here would ever advise steering clear of the stick and go for the highly praised auto w/ the Mg paddle shifters?

Are you talking about vibration through the clutch or shifter? Cause, both exist although the clutch vibration is very minimal. Personally, I like shifters that have a little bit of vibration. Makes it feel you have more direct control of the car. At least for me.

Well apparently C&D and Road and Track both complain of vibrations through the clutch and the shifter. They make it sound like a very detrimental aspect of the G35 as in lack of refinement.

I just wanted some real owners' insight on how bad this vibration really is

The best advice is to try both; I find the paddles to provide the control I wanted into the 6MT, combined with the advantages of paddle shifting.

Maybe I'm just lazy... but I've had my share of MTs, and this AT is pretty damn near telepathic.
Yeah, yeah, I KNOW the MT has the true sport sedan jam it into a gear feel, but I'd be hard pressed to know the difference sitting in the passenger's seat with my eyes closed.
Try the MT and paddles - it really is a great ride. VERY sporty without the leg cramps.
Hope this helps.
Signed,
Gramps

Coming from a 04 6MT coupe, I know what the vibrations feel. I LOVED it. It gave you this live connection with the car - you could feel it, unlike those wire-connected shifters that have this numb notchiness to them, this one is connected directly to the gear shaft and synchros. It really sounds worse than it is. My advice to you: Go test drive on and feel it for yourself.
