2007 G35 S Weight

I was looking at vehicle weights on nissanews.com, and saw that the specs have the 2007 G35 Sedan at about 3,530 lbs or so. It also showed the 2007 350z at 3,600 lbs. I don't get it. Weren't the Z's always lighter by a couple hundred lbs? If the weight is correct, why are 2007 350z's running 13.5s +/- and the G's are running 13.9-14.0?

Gearing maybe different. On a related note, the G35x is even heavier so any one know what it runs at the track?

You were looking at the 350Z Roadster. Click on 350Z Coupe and the weights are much lower.

Interesting. They must have them flipped. The roadster says 3,500 and the coupe says 3,600.

Either way, 50 lbs cannot be that big of a difference at the track. The gearing is identical. Everyone keeps saying that the Z is alot lighter, but I don't get it.

on the note of cutting weight, does anybody know if there are any new types of glass/polymers on the horizon that can be used to save weight in windows/windshield withought killing their thermal and acoustic traits?

i just ask because it would be a double plus, as the weight is high up on the car

07 Z's are actually running 13.7-13.3, with weight around 3350-3410 depending on the model.

07 Sedans should possibly do 13.5's, but no one seems to track the 07 G Sedans as frequent as the Z's.

I might be taking the 07 Sedan 5AT to the track May 4th. I will try to at least.

Can't wait to see the results.

Are you consistent at the track, or is it you first or first few times at the track?

Also, how's the track itself?

Goodluck!

If the 350Z is not really 3,500 lbs like the specs from Nissan quote, then maybe the new G37 coupe is not 3,680 lbs as the sources are the same.

Going to be my first time. My friend ran a 13.7 pretty easily with his 07 Z with a 2.2 60'. It had rained earlier and there was a 77% humidity when he ran it. The track is like 100-200' above sea level. I will let you know what happens when I go!

I use nissanews as one data source for my site. Lots of typos over there.

In general, though, curb weight specs are so shaky that I don't currently post them to my site. For example, Ford is putting a new powertrain into the Five Hundred ==> Taurus for 2008, and adding more sound deadening material. But the published curb weight is identical for the new car.
