All you have to do is use voice command "show nearby places" and select restaurtant in the menu. It will show you the 5 closest. You can also select show along route and select your exit and will show you the 5 closest off the exit.

That's what doesn't work, it only shows you the 5 closest, which are McD, BK, KFC, Wendy's and Subway... it won't show you the other 10 restaurants at that exit, it's useless unless you want fast food.

I was somewhere in the voice system, i think in help. and it listed 5 entries, at that time you could speak the work "Continue" and it would show you the next set of entries... Why in the name of Infiniti would they put that in the help area and NOT put it in the main part of the system... I really think it's a mistake. When I'm looking at 5 of 42 restaurants in the area, can't I say "Continue" and it shows me 6-10. Inexcusable.

Another question to Long Island members is what dealer ship do you reccomend ?

Get the Nav, absolutely, definitely worth it along with other features that come along with it.
I did not get the Nav on my last G35 and I kicked myself later for not getting it.
It's more money up front but at resale time you get it back, IMO, at least your car is more desirable for others.

Get it .

I wasn't originally going to get it but after I saw how it worked and all the benefits....I had to have it. I definitely think it's worth the extra money. Go for it!!!

i opted not to get the nav. I spend 200 dollars on a mio digiwalker and the rest of the money I would have spent on the nav, I bought new wheels and tires wit it ^^ . Oh and if you are in long island, I think everyone here will point u to infiniti of mass. and u are going to want to ask for kenny (da_mayor)

I have the nav and really dont use it. Grant it everywhere i go i know how to get there. With the Nav on the G you need to either find by category(rest, gas, etc..) or streeet address.
But aftermarket GPS are better since you can put in a name of the POI and get a hit. Only problems is figuring out where to put your gps in the cabin and also when you take it down to store it when you leave your car the center console probably wont be big enough to store it since its so small.

If you get bluetooth only and no nav you will have better voice commands that arent avail for nav model such as meompad, new entry(say name of person)-computer inputs name for you, edit, setup, select phone. For nav model you need to use touchpad to input name, edit, setup and NO memopad. *Anybody correct me if i'm wrong.

So just depends on what is more important and functional. You decide, if you don't get nav you should be able to get the car for invoice or less. Got my car with nav and prem for $350 above invoice, so without nav hope you get a good deal.

This is the first vehicle I've had with navi, and I must say that I absolutely love it. Especially since I've recently moved here from LA. Being unfamiliar with the roads here in Nashville (and beyond in the south) was tough until I got my G with navi. Not only is the navigation set/features awesome, but I just love keeping the screen on "map" whenever I'm driving normally. The map is gorgeous and it's helps to learn the streets by casually glancing at the screen every so often. The voice recognition system is also pretty cool.

I've only burned a few discs to the hard drive because many of my cd's won't bring up the "record" function. It's also a nuisance to program in the cd info for those that don't automatically program in.

Re: the compact flash, I haven't used it once.

Overall, the money probably isn't worth it if you don't drive often in unfamiliar areas. But if you do drive often in unfamiliar areas, then it's definitely worth it. It's saves you soooo much time and grief, not to mention it probably is a great safety feature -- to avoid getting lost in bad or isolated areas.

I have the nav, am generally happy with it, and would get it again BUT I completely agree that this is the one really annoying issue - you shuold at least be able to say 'continue' or 'more' or whatever to see more than 5 entries.

In an ideal world either Infiniti, which is essentially now selling software in addition to the car, would pay attention and plan for periodic updates as every other software company does, or independent people far more clever than me would figure out how to hack it.

For my money I really wanted the Nav because it's there when you need it. I don't have to swap out units or worry about it getting stolen. It's always there. I've really used it only once but I'm sure it cut out about 30 minutes of driving for me when I did.

It's definitely piece of mind but just like any other option YMMV. The musicbox and CF slot are what make the $2k costs acceptable IMO.

I have to agree with most of you that it's extremely annoying whenever you encounter the "locked" feature. But it's there for a reason, your safety. Scrolling through dozens of unfamiliar restaurants trying to get the just the right one, while driving 75mph at night, probably isn't the brightest idea.

A similar annoyance is the start up warning screen where you have to hit "ok" to accept all the conditions. It's like signing a waiver every time you want to drive off.

BTW, the integrated design is 100x better than an aftermarket suction cup version. Not only does it look terrible on your dash or window, but it could get stolen easily. Don't get me wrong, the aftermarket units work great, but they look like crap.

Most other cars charge $2K to get nav. We get nav (w/ realtime traffic), musicbox, CF, voice, and XM.

I think that in comparison to other cars, we get great relative value.

I wasn't able to afford it - but I got what I really wanted which was the Sport with Premium package. I wish I had asked for a larger loan to get the nav package, but I'm happy with my tom tom. As far as the hard drive etc etc, I really couldn't justify myself using it that much. I mean the damn thing already has 6 CDs (that reads MP3s - so thats over a hundred songs on one CD) and an attachment for my 80 Gig Ipod. I mean...that's pretty much all I need plus more as far as sound goes.
