Debadging..
I'm thinking of debaging my 07 G35. Think the car would look real clean if I got rid of the INFINITI letters and just left the symbol and the G35. What do ya think?? How hard is it to debadge? Can I do it or should I take it to a shop??

Do it yourself... I'd suggest a hair dryer, some fishing wire, some goo-gone and some wax...
I'll probably be right behind ya on de-badging, I'm all about the clean look... |

I removed only the G35 this weekend. Makes the back end look more balanced I think. Depends on the color. Dark colors look good with the logo only. I used dental floss, a hair drier, some imperial cleaner, my finger and some zaino. Took about 5 minutes.

does this affect your lease agreement if u are leasing the car? is there any way to put them back on with some clear glue when lease is up???

that is very nice.. my G is black... so you just use dental floss..but why a hair drier?? |

if you dont want to use a hair driver, then do it on a really hot sunny day, that should get the letters off |

Check out HikoG's G. Looks hot on black with just the logo. On Silver it looks too plain, I felt. |
definitely use a hair dryer - it'll make your life much easier. to get the emblems off, heat them up with the dryer and then work either waxed dental floss or fishing line back and forth behind the emblems. glue gone or bug b gone will work fine to get rid of the adhesive, but rubbing alcohol works the easiest. wash the area with soap and water when you're done (thoroughly), then wax it.

dental floss and meguaire scratch x. that is all you need. No hair dryer or anything.. the meguaire just rubs off the glue. very simple application.

I partially debadged my '07, by just removing the the "I N F I N I T I", every time I waxed I was having a wax build up around the letters. I used some dental floss and baby oil, took about 15 minutes. I think the back of the car looks a lot cleaner now. I don't mind the mt Fuji or the G35S, but the letters seemed cheap and loose so I just removed em.

I always thought debaging was for people who bought the cheap version of a car (BMW 318, C220 Benz) and didnt want anyone to know that they couldnt afford the more expensive versions. I guess it has turned into more of a "cleaner" look thing but its weird how I hardly ever see a debadged BMW 550, M5, M3, or Benz SL600.

Anyone ever wipe the back completely clean? Is it possible to take of the Fuji symbol?
|
you guys are putting way too much thought into this. i was able to remove all badging without floss, fishing line, a hair dryer, a heat gun, etc. i used my drivers license -- the glue is really soft and the badging pops right off. the glue residue easily wipes off with some wd-40.
it left no marks whatsoever: http://www.topshelftaste.com/g/rear1-small.jpg http://www.topshelftaste.com/g/rear2-small.jpg |

but you're correct, i like the "cleaner" look of no badging. |
