Compact Flash slot question

Well I wanted to purchase a compact flash card for the G35 but didnt know exactly which one to go with. Does anyone know what the maximum read speed on the CF slot is on the G35? Theres a ton of CF's out there but I dont know which one to go with since they all have different read speeds. I want to be able to play good quality music off the card. Thanks in advance

I think any speed card should work. The main reason cards are rated in speed are for people using them for photography who need to take a rapid series of high-megapixel photographs. Audio puts almost no pressure on the card at all. Any card should work - I used an ancient 128 MB 4x card when I first got the G and it worked spectacularly. Most cards now are 40X or more so you're not going to have any trouble. Buy something cheap and reliable.

Speed should not be an issue for MP3 players. Even at high bit rate encoding there will be no transfer issue for these files. Even at really high encoding speed of 256 kbps, that would require about 0.03 MB/s transfer rate. Which is way slower than the transfer rate of any CF card. Speed of a card is only really an issue to high MP cameras and digital video.

Just make sure it's a Type II CF card and you'll be all set.

LOL, sorry man, I was thinking one thing but typed another. You want to get a Type I card, not a type II. The CF slot in the dash is a Type I slot and Type II CF cards won't fit in the slot because they are too thick.

Btw, I have two 2GB Crucial CF cards like the one you referenced above.

The only difference between CF Type I and CF Type II cards is the card thickness. CF Type I is 3.3 mm thick and CF Type II cards are 5mm thick. A CF Type I card will operate in a CF Type I or CF Type II slot. A CF Type II card will only fit in a CF Type II slot. The electrical interfaces are identical. CompactFlash is available in both CF Type I and CF Type II cards, though predominantly in CF Type I cards. The Microdrive is a CF Type II card. Most CF I/O cards are CF Type I, but there are some CF Type II I/O cards.

You need Type I.

The CF slot will only recognize 512 files (and 256 folders) so getting a 16GB CF card is rather pointless. That is the reason I purchased two 2GB CF cards instead of a 4GB or 8GB CF card.

Wow, really? I didn't know that. Only 512 files, that kind of blows. What the hell is wrong with Infiniti? WHy only 512 files? Why only a 10 gig hard drive? I mean, you can buy a 120 gig hard drive for a hundred bucks.

Hey Treacherous, those pictures for the SD-to-Compact Flash adapter looks like it says CF-II. Is that actually a CF-II card? I thought they wouldn't fit in the slot. Also, have you tried anything bigger than a 2gb sd card? I have some 4gb's that I use right now in a big clunky adapter that sticks out about an inch. That card looks way sleeker.
