Harsh Leather

I got the G35x a few months ago and am very happy with it. One thing I am not pleased with is the hard/harsh leather. I sat in my buddies Lexus IS250 today and his leather seats are way more comfortable than our G35's. Does anyone recommend any leather conditioner to soften them up? Anyone else agree with me?

I don't agree, but there is a lot of posts about this in the detailing forum.

Zaino seems to come up a lot.

I haven't sat in a Lexus but if it's more 'comfortable' than the G I wonder just how much hard acceleration and cornering would move the driver back and around in the seat.

The G35 seat in my non-sport sedan strikes me as too plush for what the car can do, IMHO. I can't imagine how difficult it'd be to make use of the Lexus' ponies. At least the seat back bottoms out quickly in the G under WOT acceleration although I kinda wish I'd bought an S just for the heavier bolsters.

Making the leather softer will not make the seats noticable softer to sit on. As I've heard said before, Toyota makes cars that right like a sofa on wheels. Sporty cars are expected to have a more firm ride, which is possibly part of thinking behind why Nissan made the Infiniti G35 Sedan seats firmer. To give a more sporty feel. That's just a guess.

I think a softer pad on our seat would feel better as well but honestly your seat would look more worn and wrinkled if they used a softer pad. But to your point, leather conditioner is not going to make your seats feel softer to sit on.

The IS250 doesn't have that many ponies to worry about LOL

+1

If he is talking about a softer touch to the feel then yes leather conditioner will make them slighter softer feeling.

Maybe you mean padding rather than the actual leather surface...
I prefer the stiff padding, but I think the leather is pretty much the same as the lexus.

+1. I bought the Lexor leather clean and lotion from Autogeek.com (about $8 each, same as Kragen's).
