Tire wear issue...

I just took my car in for the second oil change and at 8900k 2 tires are worn down to 3/32 and need replacement soon.

I was like i know i kinda drive the car hard like 50% of the time when there isnt too much cali traffic to get in the way but 8900k is really short for tires imo. I never had to replace tires that often on my previous import cars (of course i never had a awesome 300+hp car either). The service rep said the stock goodyear eagle rs-a have a max life of 15k if you drive like a grandma and they offered to put 2 more on for $190.00 each.

im torn between replacing the 2 goodyear eagles (which have been fine in terms of ride..not so sure on the performance side) maybe not at the dealer if i can find a better price, or taking a gamble on either mixing 2 tires from another brand or going full steam and replacing all the tires with another brand.

Ive had yokohama tires in the past on another car and they were awesome gripping power but i know they dont last long either...I like perfomance for when i drive solo but the ride quality is also important for driving with others.

Anyone have suggestions or ideas on tires (btw im not looking to change the stock 17s wheels just yet)?

I have a Journey and the Goodyear RSA's on 17" wheels and I am now at 26500 and will be able to make it to at least 30000. I do a lot of highway miles so I am happy with the tires. The ride is smooth and very quiet. I'm really surpised at some of the comments about the horrible tire wear at around 8900. I would be really pissed if that is all you could get out of the tires.

Sounds like they offered ONLY to replace your rears? Sounds like you do a bit of spirited take offs and cornering... 10k miles from driving like that is VERY good.

If I was getting 10k miles out of the rears on my 350Z I was thrilled.

I have a 06 and I believe it came w/ the same tires. I am also an aggressive drive (when my wife isn't with me) and mine wore down pretty fast. I ended up replacing my 4 with Yokohama YK520's and I am pretty pleased. Since I am an aggresive driver, i have learned that treadlife is really important to me (and my marriage).

So far so good, the performance of the tires are as good as the goodyears and are just as quiet. They, aren't directional, so you can rotate them just fine.
