I just had the radio replaced in my 2007 G35S with Navigation and SOW.

Here is my question: Since I got it back, the radio seems to have less “kick.” I am wondering if anyone knows if it is possible that a non-SOW head unit (i.e., radio) could have been installed. It looks like the ‘08s require the SOW if you get the NAV, but I can’t remember if the ‘07s were the same.

It seems very unlikely that the wrong head unit was put in, especially given that the SOW has additional speakers—I would assume that equates to additional leads/pins on the back of the head unit.

As you can tell, I am trying to avoid another trip to the dealer. Thanks to anyone who can shed some light.

 

Good question, I sometimes wonder if I have a base stereo (even though I got the premium with SOW), the kick has always been non-existant as compared to the 06 G.

 

Nav can only be added w/ the Premium Package which comes w/ SOW.

So, there is no way you can get Nav w/o SOW on either the 07 or the 08.

I agree that the bass is rather weak on the SOW though I think it "kicks" and bumps extremely hard in the mid-bass. It's the lower end bass that's lacking and not nearly as loud as the mid-bass.

 

I totally agree... When I drove the loaner car the other day w/o SOW it had more low end than my car does. The mids and highs are great but I really have been wanting to add a sub...

Thanks for all of the responses. I figured there was no way they could install the wrong radio, but it was good to hear it from others. As for the lack of kick, I guess it is something we will have to live with for now. Overall I am still very pleased with the purchase.
