Second service ahead - Warrany Issue

Hi everyone,

My G is hitting 12000km (~7500 miles) and is going for the second service. The thing is im pretty sure on of my rotors is warped as the car has developed a tremble under braking at highway speeds - if this is the case would it be warranty covered? I know brakes are wear n tear, but its ridiculous that a rotor go after 10000km (~6000k miles) especially since i dont drive hard at all.

Usually covered only if it can be proven that there is a defect. Although I think the clutch is covered for 12/12 against premature wear, etc.

Yeah, not sure about the brakes, but your only chance may be that it has less than 12K miles (and hopefully less than 12 months old??). I took my 05 in for an alignment when it had about 5K miles, and to my surprise, there was no charge. They said many, many things are covered up to 12K miles or 12 months. I heard others got free wiper inserts due to chatter...but they were free because again it was in the 12k miles/12 month period. Good luck! Hope they acknowledge the problem and replace it free!

Just some interesting information that I have found to be true.

http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp...akedisk.shtml#

No flames, but I push a vette hard for fun. The rotors will get the "warped" vibration sometimes when you get them really hot and leave the pad touching in one spot. The pad material melts to the rotor, and that is the thumping you feel. I take it out to an empty road and do some really hard braking from 60 mph until the rotors heat up good, then let her coast until they cool down. Thumping is gone. It cleans the rotors up like new.

Anytime you are using the brakes hard like steep mountains or heavy stop and go traffic, you run the risk of melting pad material to the rotors when you stop for a moment. The fix for this is quite easy. Braking hard will do it, but some of the auto-crossers will simply sand or steelwool the material off. I have seen Corvette OEM rotors glow red from heat at the track and they do not "warp."

Just something to keep in mind if you develop what feels like warped brakes after some hard braking suituations.

By the way, I just ordered a loaded G35.

Those warnings are manually set. I just leave all of mine blank. It describes how to set or remove them in the owners manual.

Thanks for the article. It makes sense what you are saying.
