chrome is nice cause it's easy to clean & easy to add shine to a normal car that's going to be getting dirty & getting passed thru a car wash kinda often, if your the kind of guy who spends several hours a week cleaning & detailing then you don't need chrome wheels, chrome is more for easy lower maintanance to me,
if you use them all winter then cheap chrome will last a season then throw them out, most real factory chromes get a good solid 5 years before they start to deteriorate. if i was chroming a wheel I'd ask for solid triple plating & for a good job so they last a real long time, cheaper chrome wheels for like $300-350 or less will not have great chrome, a good asanti or something will have great chrome... you do get what you pay for with chrome too.
all of this is just my opinion & outlook on chrome wheels, & I still think you can never go wrong with a nice factory wheel that's chromed for easy maintance & headache free, factory wheels may not be very performance oriented, but they are usually very durable at least. there also going to be your cheaper option, again, good wheels are expensive & cheap wheels are not exactly good.
