ECM Reflash Question
ECM Reflash Question
I went in for the cruise control fix today. It took 3 1/2 hours to do because it did not work the first few times. After I got it I did not feel a difference. It drives the same. All of my radio and mpg numbers are the same. It seems as though they did nothing. Is there anyway to tell if they actually reflashed the ECU?
Was yours extremely noticeable pre-flash? Do you still have an extremely touchy throttle? I had the same thing happen...but it sounds like mine was not as bad as many others around here to start with. So mine doesn't jerk fast from start...but it never really did. I guess I could go try to find a hill and cruise control down it...but I'm in Sacramento. Hills are far away!
Not sure yet.... my car is in shop as we speak. For my car with ICC I should know since the front distance sensor will also have to be replaced. Without a Consult III I know of no way to pull a revision number.
After the dealership had my car for a week, I finally got it back today. They replaced the sensor, but I think they had a hard time reflashing the ECU. In the end, they told me that they didn't need to replace the sensor because my car is a manual.
What ever they did seemed to make a difference. The throttle is smoother and downhill surging is almost gone, although I can still tell some slight changes. Don't get me wrong, it's much better.
I'm not sure if it has to relearn something, but I did notice the the ICC seems to react fairly slowly to the car in front of you now. It would get much closer than I'm used to, and then slow down quite a bit, and then speed back up. I'm not sure how steady the speed of the driver was in front of me, and I only tested it out for a mile or so.
I'd be curious to see whether anyone else with ICC notices something like this after the reflash. I'm driving to SFO tonight, so I should be able to give it a good test.

Brought mine in for the problem last week but they had to order a part (distance sensor for the ICC) to complete. That came in yesterday, so will let you know the results next week. Doesn't sound like they will be doing a reflash.
does anyone ed, or after your sensor is replaced could you report back if the ICC lockups get any better? By lockup I mean if the sun or a chrome bumper is in front of you the whole system locks up and flashes until you turn it off... similat to how it locks up if you turn VDC off while ICC is on.

Bottom line, does the car drive fine? If yes, then don't worry about it.
If there's no problem, then there's nothing to "fix."
