Hit the Curb...DAMMIT
Hit the Curb...DAMMIT
Alrite guys...well made a dumb mistake the other day...well on friday since it was snowing i thought it would be fun to go and try out the awd on the g. Going perfect for like 15 minutes then i am heading home and about to make a left turn onto my street but there is a ups truck which lost traction and was sliding so i steered around it but cut too hard and the car slid and hit the curb. I was going about 15 mph when i hit it. No damage to the body...just the rim hit and took a chunk off of it. Driving the car was the same but now a couple days later i hear an odd humming sound...what should i do
will infiniti cover it...i hope i didnt bend an axel or something...ill post some pics in a bit.

I just wanted to add there are alloy wheel repair places that are mobile..
I had curb rash on my rim and they came out and fixed it within the hour (at my house) for $100.
Here is the website I used and I used the local guy in my area through this website.

They fixed my rim perfectly and you can never even tell it happened!

The humming is either your wheel being bent, or your front wheel-bearing/hub assembly that is f*cked. A good way to find out if its your hub assembly, is by doing this...
Go on a curvy road, with obviously left turn curves and right turn curves.
When making a left curve turn, you put load on the right wheels. When you make a right curve turn, you put load on the left wheels.
If every time that you make a left turn, the humming becomes louder, then its your right hub assembly. When making a right turn, if the humming becomes louder, then its your left hub assembly. Also, when you put the car on a lift, go to the wheel with the suspect bad wheel-bearing and try and see if you can physically move the wheel back and forth. If it makes noises and the wheel rocks laterally, its most likely the wheel-bearing/hub assembly. Good luck homie

Best thing to do is get your car checked out at a body shop or even a dealer...
Dont pay too much for parts though! PM me first!
Ill be sending you the price on one wheel shortly... It will be slightly more then getting it repaired like the post above, but sounds like you took a chunk out of it...
The lower control arms on the V36 are pretty expensive... Hopefully one of those is not tweaked...

well...making an appointment with the dealer rite now...
jason be ready...might need to buy parts from u...haha...and about the wheel, ill probobly end up buying it but just gotta see what the dealer says about it...the rash is about 4 inches long and goes in about 1/2 to and inch...the pressure in the wheels is fine though...well see what happens.

let me tell u right now it has to be replaced cannot be repaired well, someones lying if they said they could. 1/2 inch in is way too much .. wheel places r only good at bent, warped and rashes that are purely cosmetic..things can can be filled in, i say a few mm kinda stuff like scracthes and rashes not chunks
good luck with your car.
good luck with your car.
Yeah, get to the dealer ASAP and get it checked out. Have the wheel checked too to see if it's bent or repairable by good wheel shop.
No Infiniti doesn't pay for collision damage to your vehicle. Perhaps you're thinking of an insurance co.
