So I was reading thru the general tech area but most post r from guys with older cars.

Now, the 07+ comes with the RCA connectors in the glove compartment, meaning you can play video.

I think theres an Ipod video, I really dont know as I do not use ipod but I assume you would be able to play that on the screen? what other flash memory based devices play video? just at the top of ur heads..

If my intent was to play video from non dvd sources.. i.e the ipod vid or something similar.. I was thinking.. that an easier or less mess way to do this.. was to tap off the wires.. from the RCA plugs.. just tap or maybe a better way is to use a switch of some sort to split the signal nicely.. then route it to headrest lcd screens?

Harddrive based video players:

Ipod Classic

Zen Vision M/Zen Vision W

Zune 30gb & 80gb

Flash based video players:

Ipod Nano

Ipod Touch

Zen

Zen V Plus

Zune

And I'm sure there are a lot more. I know that all the hard drive players have a video out cable so you can watch on your car monitor.

I have a Creative Zen W 60GIG which connected to the G's system via the RCA plugs. The G 'sees' the video input and blanks the screen unless the parking brake is set. I could build a play list on the Zen before releasing the brake, but selecting music while moving is impossible.

The G will play movies on the screen only if the parking brake is set.

This all makes sense for safety reasons.

Any headrest video system would stand alone outside the G's radio. Why get involved in tapping into it when the headrest system will work fine without it?

My Zen holds almost every CD I own and several movies. It works well for me while flying or stuck in waiting rooms.
I am rapidly transferring CDs to the G's hard drive. The Automatic feature burns the CDs faster than they are played, and the burn functions while I am listening to the radio. Durning my 30 minute commute I burn at least two CDs. In time carrying CDs will be unnecessary.

True what you said about the headrest monitors being able to stand alone. But coming to think of it, this car in itself is a magnet for thieves and vandals maybe a visible lcd screen is not such a good idea? maybe a sunvisor one would be less visible.
