im also glad its not on the G. i absolutely hate doors locking when i dont tell them to. if you're worried about someone robbing you, then press the little black button that locks your doors when you get in the car. that, or do what i do and carry a gun with you.

as far as the doors coming open during a collision, im pretty sure the cars that have auto-locking doors have a feature that unlocks the doors in a collision so as not to trap the occupants. if thats not the case, then the last thing i would want is to be trapped in a burning car because i was too lazy to press a door lock button myself.

My buddy's Saab does it, and I absolutely can't stand it. Always try to pull the handle to get out, and can't. Then find the lock/switch, and do it over again. Very annoying.

I couldn't have said it better. Don't need no stinking auto lock. What have we become, a world of invalids?

The other side of the argument is that if you crash, rescue/paramedics have a tougher time getting you out if your doors are all locked.

I never lock my doors when I'm driving.

Auto lock/unlock module is what you're looking for.

+1. Considering some mods from kptech for my G as well.

Also with electronic door locks, if your car falls in a lake or river, when your alternator/electronics short out, you'll be trapped!

Yeah I don't drive through Compton much...or SE DC so I don't really have the need for auto-lock.

I know the ghettos of the suburbs of DC can be quite dangerous though.

Sure it would, the guy would walk up to his window & point the gun at him that way... its not like the glass is bullet proof....

Actually, auto lock when drive away is a VERY USEFUL features, it has not much to do for the accident but more for the expensive car like G, people can eventually come up, open the door and jack your car. Don't think it will never happen, it happen alots in the big City.

People may think that is kind of "Troublesome" features, since you have to unlock before you can get out of the car. Well, that is another reason why BMW 3 Series always win over G - The Details.

On BMW 325i I used to drive, it has a features(Programmable) to lock all the doors when drive away after start. However, if you want to get out of the car, you basically don't need to manually unlock it, all you need to do is pull the door handle "TWICE" then you will unlock the door. See... DETAILS.

G is getting close, but still need to catch up a bit more.

Just my $0.02, no flame please.

no flame^^^obviously some people like it, but for me it is still a totally useless, frustrating thing to have on a car. A real inconvenience .

There's a button thing on the door that will lock the doors from the inside!
Lock or not lock. Your choice.
We have options.
