My only problem with the G is...
 

It doesn't lock itself once you drive.

i like that about it. My TL doesn't do it, neither did my maxima.... My brother's honda accord has a viper alarm that locks it as you drive, and i can't stand it b/c i always forget to unlock when i want to get out....

Ya my truck locks itself twice after I start it, Ive locked the keys in the car several times cause of this. I hate auto locking cars. Non locking cars FTW.

If my G did that I would put it out of it's misery, I absolutely hate that feature in a car :mad: .

Auto lock/unlock module is what you're looking for.

yeah but if the G did that and you had your keys in there.. it wouldnt lock cause of the intelligent key:)

why would you need the doors locked once the car was moving anyway? are you afraid someone will ride up next to you on the highway and climb into your car?

For safety reasons. 1) stopped at a traffic light and someone can come up and open any of your doors--it happens in the big city.... 2) Less chance of the door flying open in a collision.....

Anyway, I've gotten used to just locking the door myself when I get in the car. It's 2nd nature to me, so I don't really mind that the car doesn't lock itself....

I just read a thread on here a few days ago about a member who was stopped at a traffic light and a guy with a gun climbed into his car and tried to take the car. That wouldnt have happened if the door was locked. I hate the fact that the doors dont lock automatically.

Honestly, me neither....But that doesn't mean it doesn't happen, or can't happen. Just what I was told by drivers ed instructor way back in the day.... But I guess if the impact is strong enough to open the door, you might not be makin' it out anyway... :D

Well, I decided to search on doors opening during accidents, and it seems that they are common in some rollover accidents, and the occupants are ejected from the cars....

I agree Wayne, that's a GM feature I always hated, especially the fact that when you shut the car off, ALL doors unlock, geez, great security feature huh? Besides, how hard is it to lock the door, some people are really lazy!:)

Yea, My 06 TL didn't, our 06 RL did, and now our 08 Civics do it as well. My Z doesn't though.

At least in the RL you can program it when you would like it to do it. When you start the car, or put it in D, or go 20 mph+ or disable it. Same for unlocking it.

And if it did, If this force of the collision was so strong that it made your door fly open, I doubt the little piece of metal that makes the door lock is going to help any.
