Heated Seats Issue

The heated seats in this vehicle are just not up to snuff. At freezing temperatures it takes ~7min to notice that heat is there (even though it never actually gets hot) - but the cabin is already up to temp at that point so what’s the point of having heated seats other than barely heating my *****? My vehicle was manufactured after the Dec14'06, so I suppose the harness fix stated in the TSB announcement doesn't apply. Very disappointing to my freezing cold ***.

Anyone else have this prob and find a way to resolve it? Thanks.

I've had no problems...might be because the seats in your BMW are actually leatherette (vinyl) instead of real leather. Warm the car up for a few minutes before you get in...problem solved. Either that or suck it up

Have you had the seat heater TSB done? If you search, lots of people have had this problem, and mine was resolved by having the dealer do the TSB service work - they heat up just fine now.

Same problem here. These are way worse than my 04 sedan, 06 Titan and mu current 07 Armada. Too bad I don't go to my dealer unless absolutley necessary. Worst service ever.

what exactly are you expecting? the seats aren't an electric range to fry bacon with. my seats get plenty hot within two minutes and after five minutes i have to turn the heat off because my butt gets scorching hot.

What I have noticed about these warmers in comparison to others is that they really only heat when you sit in them. So if you start your car for a few minutes to warm it up and come back, they won't be hot. But after you sit in them they warm right up. I read somewhere that its because our heating elements are below the cushion instead of in the cushion. I wish they would get warm without the assistance of my butt, but once I'm in them I can't complain about the temperature, I typically use high for the first few minute then switch to low or off.

Lo setting is useless. Hi takes a long time (>10min) to heat. Dealer says that operation is normal. Would not do anything. Heated seated are a must in Michigan.
Disappointing!

Ya, I think that confirms somethings wrong then. Today after a 10 min drive on high heat, we were trying to figure out if the heat we could feel with our hands was from the elements or our own asses - actually was hard to tell.

Thanks for info. I'll take it in and see what they say. I'll update here if there is a drastic improvment, for others with the same prob.

After the TSB was done on my car, it takes less than 5 minutes to heat the seats in Hi setting.

Nissan can't do heated seats to save their lives. This is my third Nissan product with heated seats and they all sucked equally. At least I know they're operating within spec. My 2002 Acura MDX seats blow these away.

I borrowed my Parents X-Trail, and those heated seats were wicked. Within seconds my bum was on fire (not from the spicy food I had yesterday) and I had to turn it off...

I wonder if the gentle heating in the G is because they worry about the leathers condition?...
