Does the G have DRL's?
I was searching the site and it looks like the G doesn't have daytime running lights. Is this true? I'm surprised it wouldn't have them.
Thanks, Rick |
They don't in the US, but they do here in Canada. The fog lights act as the DRLs.

Thanks for the response. I suppose if one wanted to, it would be an easy mod to make to a US version?

I am not sure how "easy" it is, but it's certainly doable.
|
isn't the first switch the auto feature, so if it's bright out, only the fog lamps go, and if it's dark, headlight turns on?
i actually haven't tried it on day time, i'll do that tomorrow, haha |
I believe the fogs only work if the low beams are on. I know they go off with the High beams. No DRL for US, YAY! :D
< Not a fan of DRL. I think drivers should just open their eyes and pay attention! :) |

< Not a fan of DRL. I think drivers should just open their eyes and pay attention! :) Everytime I drive in the US I think how wierd it is that it is not law there. I'm sure they will smarten up and it will come. It's almost as stupid as not wearing motorcycle helmets in some States. |

It amazes me how many people i see driving around at night either with no lights on or just the DTR lights on. Uts like they are oblivious to the road or something
:beat-dead-horse: |
^^ true....I usually always saw people with old cars that didnt have their lights on at night. Now its very common that people with BRAND NEW cars still dont drive with their lights on at night or in poor weather conditions here in ny

Motorcycles manufacturers like Honda recognized this way back in 1970. In the US it may have a a hard time making law because individual rights and freedoms often trump important safety issues no matter how good for the individual or society as a whole. |

The only thing DRL's are proven to reduce are head on collisions, which is a good thing because those are the deadliest types of collisions.
With regards to nightfall or inclement weather, DRL's are not as effective as people may think because DRL's will only turn on the headlamps, not the taillamps. With regards to head on collisions, taillamps do not play a role obviously. The state of Maryland requires all driver's to turn on their headlamps on two lane roads that lack a physical median. I think this is a good law and I'm all for DRLs since they help reduce the most deadly type of accident. However, its not as useful as some people make them out to be. |
I agree, I think most manufacturers should make it standard, in fact most do I think. My other two cars both have them.
|
i personally dont like DRLs either, but like many said, alot of people think that becasuse the DRLs are on they dont need to actually turn on the headlights. Its very common to see this on GM vehicles. I see tons of people driving around without their taillights on at night/during limited visibility, but headlights are on.
I think if they were to make DRLs standard, they should have the taillights iluminated as well. |
