Hey guys,

Just wanted to post and say hi. I'm in the process of selling of my 20th Anniversary Edition GTI and then I'll be getting a G35X.

I'm just wondering if I should wait for an XS model or just go with the regular X. Is there really that much of a difference. I'll be going to drive a regular 35 with the Sport package to see if I really need the paddles and Sport seats or if it would be something I could live without for a few years.

If any of you were in the same position could you maybe write what made you pick between the two?

I think the wait would be more than I could take since I'll be without a car and the dealers are only getting very few of the XS models over the next 2 months.

Anyways, its I can't wait to get the G35. It is one great car!

Where are you located? If you are close to Virginia let me know because there are plenty of G35X with the sports package available.

Okay, i was almost in ths same exact position, only difference being i was shopping in october, when the 08's were just reaching the deallers, and the X's were "coming soon", but noone could give me even a ballpark answer, i was hearing spring. I decided to take an 07, more fully equipped than an 08 i couldve gotten for the same $. I really wanted to go with the Xs, but looked at the facts:
not 100% if it has LSD <--not that kind.....
you can put the paddles into the X anyway.
The sports seats are a little bit too small for me to be comfortable in
I personally like the look of the X wheels more than the S
The ride in the X is more stiff than smooth, and the S only maginfies that
I plan on putting 19's on the G, and 17" winter tires will be cheaper than putting them on the sport 18's

Looking back, I saved money, and got what i liked better. if you have driven a higher power AWD car with a decent rear-bias, and enjoy flogging it around, by all means get the X, but if weather permits, the RWD has to be more fun to play with, I unfortunately have never gotten to drive anything but the X. When i was shopping, i couldnt even find a dealer within 50 miles for a Sport to test drive, but am glad i did get the X. The AWD has saved me more than a couple of times allready. No matter which you decide on, the X is a joy. Its almost as much fun as you can have in something like an STI, but you can get out in a Tux if need be.

Coming from my GTI the ride in the G is pretty similar and not that stiff.

what I'm thinking is that if they get any G35XS models in by the time I'm ready to buy, I'll get it. If they don't, I'll just get the X and wont really miss the other things included. I'm probably going to change out the wheels anyways, since I don't like either of them too much. I'll keep the 17's for snow.

I'll be going to med school in West Virginia next year so I want to get AWD for the days when it rains/snows on those winding roads. Plus when in MI we get some snow as well so I'd like an AWD car. During the test drive it was wet outside and the G handled really well.
