Sunroof size

Fellow 07+ owners. I noticed that my sunroof only open around 12" there's about 3-4" left. Is this normal?

Also, when the sunroof is open, the whole ceiling panel vibrates like a ****. Not sure if its by (lack of) design or not, but it just seems to scoop up all the air that passes over it.

I wonder if the older models are the same.

I haven't opened mine in a while, seeing as how its the middle of the winter here in Chicago, but I'm almost positive that my sunroof extracts all the way back, there is no part of the glass showing. When it's open, the roof def doesn't vibrate a lot. I'd go have that checked out.

My ceiling definitely doesn't vibrate when it's open, however the 3/4" you are talking about is normal.

^^ I thought he was saying there was 3" TO 4" of the sunroof exposed. Not 3/4"

^ Good catch, you are correct. Like you, my sunroof hasn't been open in some time, however 3-4" is definitely not normal.

If it looks like it could open another 2", yeah, not 4". It may be just the loud wind noise. Try pressing down the front sunroof wind deflector, if that loud sound/"rattle" doesn't go away, you may have bigger issues.

there is no sound abnomalies, just an observation that the ceiling liner vibrates (silently) wile the sunroof is open. Never noticed this on any of my other vehicles.

Just put a ruler to it: sunroof opening is 16", but only opens 12".

i dont have any problems with the vibrating of the ceiling liner, but i had a problem with the glass panel not opening all the way too. i just figured it might have something to do with the shape and design of the roof. you might notice that theres a slight curve in the roof which most likely stops the glass from going back any further. i would agree that that extra 3' does urk the hell out of me. especially living in southern cali, its 71 deg right now!

Hey Lemodular, with my sunroof fully opened, there are 3 to 4 inches left of glass.. this is normal.. but the vibrations you're experiencing is not...

IIRC, I have 3 - 4 inches of panel still showing when it's open all the way. Sounds normal.
