Left interior/trunk lights on / Battery damaged?

Okay, so over the weekend, I swapped out all of my interior lights and rear license plate lights for LEDs. It turned out pretty cool and I will post pics tonight…eventually…some day…okay, maybe. I ended up going with the 5-LEDs from Superbrightleds.com for all of the lights except some superduper single LED (from the same site) for the trunk light and 12 Leds for the front map lights. Thanks to all those who previously did this mod and posted all the information and how-to's on this forum.

Now here's my problem. In my understanable excitement to show off the latest mod to my wife and our two-year old, both of whom clearly could have cared less, I ended up leaving my map lights on and my trunk open - and therefore the trunk light on - overnight. Actually, the map lights may have been on for as long as 36 hours! Yes, very boneheaded of me.

When I went down to my garage this morning, the lights were still on, which seemed strange because I thought there was an automatic off feature after five minutes (but maybe that's just for the exterior lights?). Luckily, the car started on the first push of the ignition button, but the battery definitely struggled compared to a normal start. Do you guys think there's any permanent damage/drain to the battery? I know LEDs do not draw a lot of power, but maybe I should have the battery checked out by a mechanic? FWIW, I have less than 500 miles on the car, so the battery was otherwise new.

Nah - don't worry about it.
Just drive the car around for an hour or so and your battery should get recharged back to where it was.

Just let the car run for a while and the alternator will charge your battery back up.

Wait a minute here, doesn't anything you leave on automatically shut off after a certain amount of time, to protect the battery? I'll have to check mine now, I know my '05 did taht.

Yes, that's been my experience too. Don't LED lights use a lot less power? Maybe the G doesn't register it as "power on" and doesn't auto-shut-off...?

yes L.E.D. technology uses about a tenth of what a normal light bulb uses for power. in fact, the audi r8 is going to be the first production car to have L.E.D. headlights. even crazier is that L.E.D.'s are created by crystals that emit light. semiconductors

I guess it's limited to exterior lights only. Of course, I'm not going to risk checking again...at least not intentionally...

By the way, both the battery and the car ended up fine.
