Hi All,

I'm strongly considering leasing a 2008 G35x. This car is gorgeous. I haven't had the opportunity to even test drive it yet, but I have a feeling that the moment I do it will be all over for my checkbook.

Anyway, to my question about using the Intelligent Key system. Can the radio be used while the driver is out of the car? The perfect example is at the gas station. If I stop the engine and get out to pump gas, will my wife be able to listen to the radio when I'm outside the car?

No matter what the answer is, it won't be a deal killer, but just nice to know what to expect.

Yep sure can. After shutting off the engine, just press the start/stop button without having your foot on the brake, car goes in to ACC mode. Now buy the damn thing.

 

Easier to push the ignition button 2 times quickly. The radio will stay on.

Its not really a good idea to do this, if the car is eqipped with the Navi option. The Music Box is a battery killer. Some get 2-3 hours from the radio before the battery is dead... Others get less.
A few people were ripping CDs into the hard drive last summer while washing, waxing, etc and learned this the hard way.
A gas station stop is usually only a minute or two but someone just the other day asked why his lights starting dimming inside after just a minute of playing with the navi while the car was shut off.

 

True, but didn't that guy say he hadn't driven the car for over a month?

Aeson is right, the stereo can kill the battery pretty fast - I don't have NAV, and still ran down the battery with the stereo over a five-hour Zaino fest. No worries about doing it at the gas station, or even over a 45 min car wash tho.

 

Why would you sit in the car for 2-3 hours listening to the radio/MV/XM/CD/etc. etc.???

The OP was referring to a general daily use - i.e. gas station example.

 

I just leased a liquid platinum 2008 G35X with the premium package. A fantastic car, not that I need to remind you all of that.

There has to be an easier way to shut off the engine and get into ACC without having to press it twice quickly...

 

I thought that was easy.

 

Pressing the start button twice is perfectly fine. Since I was unfamiliar to using a start button, I just wanted to make sure it was possible to use the ACC without the engine running.

 

Congrats on the new ride! The hardest part now is being gentle with your new baby until the break in period is over. It may seem like am eternity. Have fun!!!

You want the start button to rub your sack for you too when they are sore?

 

The cool thing about having the car in "ON" mode (difference between ACC-hitting the start button once w/o the brake, and ON-hitting the start button twice w/o the brake) is that the gauges are lit up and you can see the fuel gauge move up, so you get a pretty good idea when you're almost full of gas.
