if you can afford such luxury cars, maintenance and reliability isn't as important because in 2-3 years, it'll be another brand new car... maybe that's the reason why the engineers don't really care about building a car reliably after warranty period, lol

When I say i messed up, I mean by getting in the A8 and pressing buttons. There was one option that really did it for me. its called adaptive air suspension where you can lift and lower the suspension from the touch of a button. I was looking @ an 06 with 30,000 miles for 36k.

The question isn't SHOULD you do it; the question is can you AFFORD to do it.
Have you sat down and worked the numbers? Also, do you feel confident that you can deal with the supposed reliability/maintenance issues that you'll be having after the warranty expires?

VERY good point! I view German cars as needing the following approach to ownership/leasing:

1. Buy it, drive it for 3 years, get rid of it!

2. Lease it, drive it for 3 years, get rid of it!

As for the A8 being 4/5 as good as the S8 its just not gonna happen totally different car. Before I had the G i had a 2001 S4 which was way fast with GIAC software 340hp 400tq to the wheel and the regular A4 was less than 1/5 of the car my S was. You will have to spend some major money on suspension and engine upgrades to get what you really want (not a boat), plus the tightness of the steering is completely different on the S models. Then like someone else said get the extended warranty, mine spent over 16,000 dollars on my car, which was more than half of what I paid for the car. It was in the shop every 2 months with stupid issues that each time amounted to no less than $700. All in all I loved my S4 it was a 2.7L twin turbo pushing 18 lbs of boost coupled with all wheel drive I was running 12.72 quarter mile at 128 mph. Thats why I think my G is so slow.

Yeah... I'm confused.

Why are we comparing a mid-30k mid-size sedan, to a 75k+ full-size?????

For what I wanted, that being a sports sedan... the G35 delivers a FAR better experience than the A8 could dream of. If I wanted a bling-a-fied baller car, that would be an excellent cruiser and not even begin to be something I could throw around... the A8 would be a no brainer.
