AWD in Reverse

An interesting question came to my mind this morning with the snow storm. Do AWD works while the car is in reverse? I was backing out form my driveway this morning and I couldn't help but hear a lot of wheel spin. Once the car is going forward all the wheel spin is gone. Any clues?

Yep, works just fine. But AWD won't give you any traction if there's none to have...

I was backing into my driveway last Friday with about a good 1" of packed snow on the ground and the car was not happy about it after I stopped, but you can certainly see and hear the front and rear wheels trying to do their thing.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm going to ask my wife to back into the driveway with my car tonight and see how all the wheels spin while the snow is still fresh. Only thing is that I have to come up with an good excuse to ask her to do it.
