Worth it??

Would you pay $1,200 for 25 HP?

I'm looking at the Berk HFCs, and the Cobb Tuning AccessPort; optimistically, the two together would net me about 25HP without any loss of torque. Together the HW is about $1,100, plus say $100 for HFC installation. Would you do it?

I'm torn, because I happen to have a few thou handy, and 25HP just tiptoes over the point at which you can feel it. But, it won't be a hugely noticeable increase. So...?

I think its worth it. Prior to my current 07 G35, I owned 2 BMWs ( a 328i and a 740i). I put about $1800 in each car and got about 12-25 hp gain. I think when you get a 1 hp gain for $50, thats pretty good. thats my 2 cents.

Looks pretty cool, apparently they have a reputation for completely blowing their scheduled launch dates, but they're now in beta so it has to be pretty close. I like it because it's not a permanent change, you can always go back to original tune.

Oh, and ignore the comment that it's for N. American coupes only, they told me they're testing an '07 sedan too.

I was lucky enough to get a 2007 SHELBY GT500 In November 2007 for less then MSRP. The car was awsume and the only thing I did was a tune which netted about 40 H/P to the wheels. With over 525 H/p at the crank, it made a significant improvement. You could easily smoke the tires thru the first three gears. Should have easily run in the 11'S(WITH GOOD SLICKS). I never took it to the track and wished I had. After having it for 6 months, and putting 4000 miles on it, I decided I had had enough fun and the clutch became a ordeal I didn't want to contend with. My daughter had just bought a 2007 pearl white G35S and really loved it and I drove it and loved it also. The acceleration from 0-60 is only about .2 seconds slower than the Mustang and you have better control because your not sliding all over the place. I sold the mustang for a nice profit and bought my 2007 Platinum Graphite G35 Sport and have never once regretted it. The G35 is a wonderfully comfortable , spacious, sporty, and a wonderful car to drive with more than enough power and handling to perform with dignity and grace and give just about anything a run for their money with much more finese and agility and a great sense of power. I hope to keep this car for a long time and enjoy every minute of it.

I wouldn't do it, personally. But that's because I'm not planning on taking my car to the track or anything. That $1200 could be spent later on some sort of forced induction kit...

Yeah, I know what you mean. Problem is, I'll probably never do FI because I don't want to go that far with aftermarket mods - would rather just eventually trade up to something that's factory FI.

So...think I'm probably going to go for it, figuring that even if the HP increase isn't that noticeable, the exhaust tone will be a bit different, and the AccessPort may have more effect.

If the AccessPort doesn't come out soon, I'm probably going to get the UpRev Osiris myself... I'm more or less done with bolt-ons, so a tune is a must.

There's no way to guarantee that you'll be getting 25HP. What if you only net 15-20 HP? Would it still be worth it then?

I'm not going to answer the question, but I want you to take a look at the whole picture....
