Convince me not to buy A G35x
#31
Go with the G!
I've had my '07 Sport 5AT since Dec '07 and absolutely love it. There is really nothing much I'd change about it. It is a classy-looking car, has been extremely trouble-free, is more than sporty enough for me, and it has been a genuine pleasure to own since day 1.
I had previously considered an M35x, but felt I wanted something a little sportier and would likely step up to more of a cruiser like the M35/45 when I got a bit older. Plus, at the time, the 2nd generation G was just about to come out, so I waited for it because I loved the styling of it in the press photos. I was really leaning toward a Japanese car rather than a German one...to many horror stories about their reliability. Plus, my wife and I had at the time a '95 Nissan 240SX she bought new and which was very trouble-free for 172k miles. We also had a '97 Maxima (now with 109k miles...also very trouble-free). So we had a preference for Nissan products.
I/we looked at the 3-series anyway...the exterior styling just didn't make me want to own the car. Plus the interior was too subdued and the back seat was tiny. Overall, I just didn't desire the bimmer.
Went to see the IS350...again the styling turned me off. The back seat was non-existent and the car just seemed sterile.
Liked the styling of the TL, but it is FWD. Game over. (The maxima is the first and last FWD car for me).
Overall, I couldn't be happier with my choice. The G really is a driver's car...and the kind of car you'll love to just wash/wax in your driveway. It is a car that will excite you, now and years from now.
My only gripe is the sensitive throttle tip-in (which can be cured through a reflash).
Good luck!
