Transmission/Engine Questions

Got a few questions re: the transmission and engine.

1) What's the rev limiter set at on the 08 sedan?

2) If using the paddle shifters, will the computer allow you to shift into a lower gear even if the car speed results in an over-rev of the motor?

3) Is there information on the maximum speed (mph) in each gear of the automatic? I saw it in the 07 owner's manual for the stick shift, but didn't see it for the automatic.

dont have an auto so someone else can perhaps answer no.2,3 for you,

but for 1) the rev limiter on all 07+ G35 sedans are at 7600rpm, and i did test drive a couple a/t and dealer told me that and if you hit the limiter then the rev needle will bounce back and forth until you change gears(presuming you're in manual mode) which is not good for the car

hope it helps and some auto guys can chime in.

Yep, for sure I know that bouncing the engine off the rev limiter is not a good idea..

Today I accidentally downshifted to 1st gear at roughly 30 mph. I immediately upshifted back to 2nd gear. I didn't see the engine redline so I'm confident it didn't. Just a little disappointed in myself, since I pride myself in knowing how to drive...

From what I've seen from experiments, 1st gear tops out around 40mph, 2nd gear around 60-65, 3rd gear around 100.

And I don't think we really need to know what 4-5th gears max out at.
