Throttle Lag? 6MT

Hey guys, has anyone else noticed a throttle response lag? I notice it more so after I got my clutch recall done. Like when i blip to downshift (i have floored it to match revvs and still took it a sec to respond) or even just normally revving it, it seems like there is a delay in the response.

I had the clutch recall and the ECU upgrades done awhile back and while first I was pleased with the results. It's been about 2 months since I had it done and the car definitely feels a bit slower / less responsive in the throttle

hmm, I had both recalls done! And my car does not feel sluggish at all! Responds without lag or hesitation! I can Screech the tires on every upshift from 1st to 4th gear! this while i took my freind for a test ride in my G, he had an STI before. now drives a truck. he was really Impressed that a N/A V6 could pull that hard and push him in his seat! I was kind of surprised my car did that too. maybe it was the cold Air that Night? Or I was just bangin the gears peferctly that night. Either way my G has no LAG whatsoever!!

Do you have the turbo whistlers installed on your mufflers by any chance? It's probably just the turbo lag.

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.

In all seriousness, I have the lag, and it's coming from my HFC. When I am cruising around in a lower speed (30~40MPH) and decide to go WOT, my car hesitates for about half a second. I am not sure if it is the same symptom, but it seems like a similar problem? BTW, I have a 5AT.

No lag here. (I have an 06 Coupe 6MT).

Your VDC is off right? Even the most insignificant movements make the VDC kick in. Sometimes, it isn't noticeable as other times and it makes it seem as if the throttle has lag.

even with VDC off, its not lag in acceleration, its when i push down the accelerator pedal and then there is a delay in the actual revving on the engine. i've even tested it at low rpm revs and it still seems to lag between when i push on the pedal and the revving. is there a lag with the throttle by wire? i'm used to an actual cable controled throttle and not an electronic one with instant response

so it goes: pressing of the acclerator pedal > half sec delay > enginge response

i dont have a g...but a slight lag with throttle response is very common in cars with drive by wire technology. since the pedal movement has to be sent to the ecu and ecu tells the throttle to open up. i know this was a problem with the latest gen camry's and they even have had tsb's to try to fix it.

My 07 HR does it all the time. I really notice it when I am rolling around 2-3000 rpm and punch it to manuever in traffic. I have to allow for the pause so I don't get killed. I have been caught flat footed a couple of times and not been impressed. I try to ease into the throttle now when I am anticipating a manuever or a lane change. You get used to it.

I feel something similar in mine as well- the drive by wire is surely the issue.

Strangely opposite though is when I let off of the gas to turn into a parking lot the second day I had it and when I touched the gas the excessive throttle tip in caused me to squeal the tires in front of a ton of people.

so you notice a lag response when you press on the acclerator?

Shouldnt be happening in a 6MT IMO. This is clearly an ECU/Drive-by-wire issue. Thats the whole beauty and point of a manual transmission, RESPONSE and efficiency.

only a little bit, when i floor it when the car is at lower rpms (2000-3000).

Under normal acceleration and downshifts the car is perfect.

Maybe we are being a little to ****.

I have also heard the if you place your foot towards the top of the pedal as opposed to the bottom of the pedal it eliminates this. This was from a member on these forums. Not sure if I believe it or not. Something about the sensor being at the top of the pedal.

No, there is an issue with the drive by wire throttle. I was talking to one of my service advisors and one of the techs about this. It's annoying as ****. I step on the pedal and I have to wait a second before revs climb. Annoying as s**t when I'm trying to rip off a heel and toe downshift. Makes it tricky to launch the car smoothly as well. They're going to see if they can do something about it when I bring my car in for its next service. Supposedly there are a few settings they can fiddle with using Consult. Told them I'm down to be a guinea pig so long as they fix my laggy azz throttle.

One of the techs said there is a difference between the programming used on the V35s vs the V36s. In addition to the lag, there's also about a half inch of dead space when I push down the accelerator pedal. Like jack s**t don't happen during the first half inch of tip in. On the other hand, every V35 I've driven on the lot has excellent tip in and the tach needle moves with even the slightest press on the gas pedal.
