There's not going to be any killing going on in either direction (unless someone can't drive).
Equal drivers, the nod will go to the 550i.
It does say a lot that a $30k sports sedan can keep up with a $60k one.

Thats why I love my G, The guy with a 75g car doesnt really have double the staff I have in my car. He probably has more room, somewhat more perfomance from the V8 engine, but that is certainly not worth the difference in $ difference. 20k of that difference is probably the BMW badge. I pat myself on the back for sunce a wise purchase, money well spent IMO

1) The guy with the 550i could care less about what his bang per buck is relative to the G.
2) By your logic, all the new Hyundai Coupe crowd is going to have a field day with their purchase vs yours.

LOL! Don't diss the Hyundai Coupe! It's actually sharp looking! Originally Posted by Jeff92se

And yes, if the guy in the 550i can afford it, then he probably doesn't care about bang for the buck!

I would throw both your arguments on 2 & 1 to the Hyundai coupe scenario.
Its a good way to prove your point though. However, I am comparing up, I am the reference point here. The thinking you presented is of someone who owns the 550i, I dont and I certainly am not going to try. If I am patting myself on the back that my car is priced right since I looked at the 550i and noted the differences in my original post, there is nothing wrong with that. Maybe if my income goes up to the level where I can afford a 550i, I will present your argument but for now, ............

So would the Hyundai Coupe owners. ie.. referencing themselves relative to a G purchase.

Again, I am the reference point. I cannot think for the Hyundai coupe guys, its a free country, there are entitled to their opinion.
I think we can end this at that. We are here for the G I would like to see the G beat the 550i in the race, lets see if it happens

I think the point I am getting is that the outcome is illrelevant. Even by some stretch the G won, at the end of the day, I'd still like the BMW.

Of course the 550i is more comparable to the M35 to begin with. Maybe not performance wise, but they are both more luxurious inside in comparison to our G's and much larger vehicles.

I edited my response, I assumed one would understand that by "matter at hand" I was referring to the race which is the point of this thread. Now I have made this more explicit to avoid confusionOriginally Posted by Klubbheads

read post #18. Now lets all cross our fingers and hope that the guy puts it in 4rth instead of 2nd gear. Originally Posted by 306HP

Well...actually if you compare numbers, the 550 is less than 4 inches longer than the G, less than 3" wider, almost exaclty as high, but weights about 250+ pounds more. Other parts are very close as well...
My point is - we're not as far apart as the last gen. We're definately bigger than the 3 and should not be compared to it really. The way they classify cars to compare really should be re-thought. Is it size, model or price...any or all of the above. If you did a compare of the G to the 5, the 5 might win on some technical points, but feature for dollar to HP and we'd definately be a ringer.
